Thread: FUN vs DEVS

I think the devs are doing it to make us fly in squadrons, but you have to realize that not everything should be soloable. Flying in groups is a lot of fun aswell. Also, pilot is a profession that doesn't cost any skillpoints so there has to be something to compensate for that.

The missions for skills upto master arnt to bad and they are doable solo (except fora couple). But to get master you need at least 1 full group and thats pretty rare on my server especially in space because everyone wants to do their own thing, there needs to be another way of doing it that you can do on your own (thats alsofun).

I totaly realize everything is not soloable. I do not mind flying in squadrons. And the Tier 3 missions are hard! Make the missions hard but not impossible

I bring friends on every mission and help lots of people out with there begginer missions. But to complete a mission to train is not a good idea. Why, you ask, let me tell you. Because SOE is incomatent with mission there broken on the ground and there broken in space and they will contuinue to be bugged and gated.

I am now gatted on the Tier 3 mission i have 1,000,000 banked xp ready to train but i cant, why, cause there is a static Tier4 Spawn at one of the missions points and its hard as hell to beat. They have acknologed this and are fixeing it in a patch and that is fine. Thing is with all the test and beta this should have never happed.

The fact that u must complete a mission before u are given the chance to level up is stupid.

I actually think that's one of the few things they did do right, yeah it makes things take a little longer but at least it's mission/story based so it makes sense. It cuts down on the rush to grind to master, which is really the only reason you're complaining. It's peoples nature mostly to want to knock out those boxes and master fast, when they can't, they complain. If they didn't make it mission based, you'd just go out and grind out on easy ships until you got the xp you needed, then you'd train, then when you hit master you'd complain there wasn't enough content. Yet at the same time when they give you content you complain about that too, heh, it's funny that way.

Though I think the real reason they did it is so people won't master as fast to give them time to get some stuff in for people to do after master pilot, since currently there isn't any. I bet the just happen to patch in a fix making the missions easier too right after they patch in some master level content for pilot.

And for those that say get a group, I ran into a friend last night we are both are stuck on the same mission. So we group up and head off to do it, first part goes fine disable the shuttle NP. As we head to the next part of the mission, I tell her what to expect.
I had gotten past the 2nd part of the quest solo, so I tell her that a group of Y-wings
and then X-wings will fly in.

Anyway as we are taking out the last of the X-wings, what jumps in a group of Z95's
and then a group of A-wings, and then a group of B-wings.
And none of these guys will target me or anyone else, They all chase her down.

So if you get a group make sure you have enough people.

dang rights its hard... it should be... but is still should be soloable. i dont feel i should have to spend an hour or so beggin people to join my group. no ones curling up in fetal positions or any of that bull. we are all going to grind it out until we are masters and thats why were here... searching for a way. what is aggravating is that we are FORCED to group when we dont want to. some of us enjoy playing SOLO. admitedly i've only tried the mission i'm on once and i'm about to do it again. my biggest beef is that under the current system it does not feel like you are getting rewarded for the time and effort being put into it. at the very least you should be able to train the moment u get the xp. why shouldn't u be able to advance and get better weaps and stuff to help u stand a better chance. to become TK no one is asked to kill an insane amount of dark force wielders without dying before the mission is complete and it shouldn't be the same in space.besides even if u die trying to become TK u still get rewarded for your effort and you still progress up the tree to stand a better chance of success.

Firstly, why are you trying to grind to master? Try playing the missions you need to level and enjoy doing it. The pilot professions are built so you have to "play" your way to master and NOT "grind"

You cannot train once you get the XP because that completely negates the whole point of the mission based system, it is to remove the grinding and let you play.

It would seem that all the missions are in fact soloable, with the right ship and components and most importantly the skill to do it. If you really feel the need to solo everything then you need to build your skills to a suitable level to do so. My piloting skills are probbly not up to soloing everything, but clearly some folks are... if you make it easy enough for me to solo then it is boring for them.

The only problem I have with the current system is the fact that you have to do your master mission in a forced PVP zone. I have all kinds of ugly images of getting swarmed by 14 yr old gank squads on power trips with their poor sportsman like attitudes.

If you get ganked by 14 yr old with with no real morals then get a bigger squadron and crush his ass. o one likes gankers, so assembling an Anti-gank team should be easy. If you send out a call for help or use your untargeting moves (iffscrample, piratetrap) chances are someone on your side will help. and you can avoid them anyway, play sneaky rather than all out guns blaring. Also i like the fact we're forced to group, because even Han Solo had a co-pilot. Squadrons are a safer way to play, and can increase the chance of you suceeding.

ok fine. you all make very valid and good points.my biggest grip about grouping is taking the extra time to find people willing to participate and also that they have enough skill level. some of us don't have all damned day to do this. don'ttell me i can't group or that it's past me either. on the force mission to destroy the the sith bases i more then helped one groupbyleading them into thebaseto show them how to capture the commander. in the process isacrificed myself (on a fresh buff mind you) just so they could get safely away. why? because even though i died i still felt i gained something...i was still able to use all the xp i acquired while helping them. yeah i've mastered TK. am i bored because i'm master... hell no, there is tons of game content to explore and then re-explore. anyone who says different is blind. so dont tell me i'd be bored in space as a master pilot. thats when i'd find groups and take on the bigger ships. should i be in a group to master the pilot profession. yeah props to you guys that is a validpoint cause to be a pilot you should have the skills to fight in a group. at the same time would u be willing to say that in the films jango and later on bobba fett were probably ace pilots? did we ever see them grouping to attack anything?my mainargument is the time it takes to assemble the damn group... i finally got one person out of 20 that i asked to help me and we still failedeven though he was a better pilot than i... and again the fact that there is no reward for your efforts really torques me off. if u can't beat something then naturally u acquire the skills to have a better chance of success.sowhy can't i use my faction pts to buy some TIE fighters from the Imperial Space Station much like u would a Dark Trooper on the ground? or even better weapons?

one last point... i just saw the first preview for revenge of the sith. for a while i've been wondering if lucas wasgoing to develop anakin enough that i could associate him with the all mighty lord of the sith...all that has been laid to rest. anakin looks mean as hell. props to george. it looks like he may come through. i cant wait for the film to come out now.
