Take the speed line( stances), and whichever of the defesive mods you like. The teq line offers various state defences, the grips line dodge, and the marksman line.....
Considering you are already a Rogue, fanshot will be the only special from our tree you may use as it is an AOE attack and smugglers don't really get one of those. So I would say don't bother with the Teq line unless you plan on taking it to the top. With the upcoming nerf on stacking defensive mods the marksmanship line may be less important than before, but hitting what you aim at is important.
As far as medic goes, just get Nov Medic so you can use stims and as you already have the unarmed line from brawler, pick up the meditaion line from TKA. You can heal your wounds, cure poison, bleeding, disease and boost your stats at will for only 20 more skill points. More bang for your buck than any 20 points in Medic.
So, stances to the top, all or none of the teq line and as much of the marksmanship line as you can. Smugglers don't get very good mods on their own. /Lastditch ain't worth diddley if it misses.

On my second account I've taken up Merchant... or, about to if I could get enough EXP to get to Novice Merchant. I'm stuck. My vendor will not initialize!
I create the vendor, drop it, get it in the right position, click "Initialize" then pay maintaince. When I try to "use" the vendor, it says the vendor has not been initialized. I've went through six vendors hoping something would change. It hasn't. I've waited three hours hoping maybe something would initialize. It wont. Can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong? What should I do? I can't get any EXP! >_<

I found out by accident that going through the initialize process twice before doing anything else works too

Guys is it rude to ask,or expect tips from fellow group members?
I now spend a lot of my time as a full on duty Doctor as that is what keeps everyone alive and helps out the most, but now and again i have asked people for tips or what they can afford and they say no way your getting money from the missions.
I try and think is it bad asking for expecting tips or is it something that should be done out of kindness?

Honestly if you are grouped with more than a couple friends the amount of money from those missions slows down a lot so I would feel justified in asking for a tip for the buff. Besides in most cases I have grouped I am perfectly capable of solo'ing the missions and group is realisticly so that everyone can get better missions. If you are doing something as a group that specifically benefits you I wouldn't ask though.

True, you are getting money from missions, but so are they. Most of the time though, missions are costing the Medic/Doc/CM more to run missions.Just in terms of resources, you could spend 2K worth of meds in one mission in a large group. I wouldn't bother with asking for money for heals and stims, but for a rez or buff you should get paid for. Unless they died while protecting you. I don't think it's rude to mention before the missions that you would like any herbivore or avian meat collected to make more meds.
