the lame part is needing to get 240k space xp to get all your tier 2 boxes and only getting 110 space xp per kill...NOW THAT IS FRICKEN LAME. That means I have to kill 2,182 ships before I can fill all my boxes...each ship takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute. At one minute that means 36+ hours for me to get all my tier 2 boxes... and 18+ hours at 30 seconds. That is just ridiculous, not to mention insanely boring.

Its all the Jedi

They have finaly finished their AFK Grinding to Full Template and are now STARTING JTL

They are so used to having things handed to them on the ground they can't understand actual Difficulty

They just figure that if they whine enough, it will be dumbed down for them, like it was on the ground.

- When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

as a jedi myself, i am just gonna say... dont bring that discussion (discussion? aint that more of a flamefest?) into this forum... both sides are retarted, so lets drop it before it starts...

BTW, i've aced reb pilot 3 times for all the badges, did my first before i was a jedi, decided to go after the other 2 after finishing my template. jedi has nothing to do with pilot, dont try to make it have something to do with pilot. i like the difference... when one gets boring i go to the other

You need to find bigger fish to fry. You don't need to wholesale slaughter tier 1 ships to try to inch your way to enough xp to fill out your boxes. Yes at 110 or so points of xp a kill it would take forever to do it this way. Even with the starter ship and a few looted components I was able to take out tier 3 ships with ease.

Pilot requires a different mindset to the groundgame, one of finding actual tactics to combat different types of fighter, and knowing your limits. The ground-side, on the otherhand, is a lot more simple and straightforward, being more about combat level and using the right specials.

You might want to give the numberous FAQs in the pilot forum if you are prepared to stick with it, however. Anyone can learn to be a decent pilot with a bit of good old-fashioned paitence and persaverence.

Seriously, shooting at a light fighter for 2 minutes is just rediculus. This is not a destoyer or something, a freakin light fighter. Shields should take 2-3 hits at most and then 2 hits to the armor. Also these planes fly rediculusly slow.

Try PvP combat. I think it will prove to be more to your liking if you want to see ships go down in two shots. Or less.

And yes, they do fly slow - at least that much is still canon. Check the old book RPGs ... those ships were lucky max out at 100kph. Face it - it's all manual gunnery, right? Do you really think you're going to hit something with a pair of forward fixed blasters while traveling at Mach 9? They faced this problem in real life. When the Germans made the Me-163 Komet, it was completely rocket powered and could climb like an F-16. The advantage was that it was too fast for anything to hit it. The problem is that it was too fast for it to hit anything else, too. That's why when aviation entered the Jet Fighter Age between the 1950s and 1970s aircraft began to evolve away from cannons & machineguns and became nothing more than long range missile platforms. Even today, aircraft that do use cannons as primary weapons (the A-10 Warthog comes to mind) are deliberately made to fly slower so that the pilot can actually hit their targets. So until Star Wars starts putting high-tech automatic targeting computers and gimbal mounts on all their ships, we'll have to accept that only doing driving at mere race car speeds is probably for the best.

It's easily possible to get to 3333 in pilot in a single game session. At tier 1 you should be fighting tier 2 oppponents to level, and tier 3s if you can get lone ships to attack. At tier 2 with the right equipment and a little skill, you're ready for the tier 5s in Kessel. I've levelled pilot 3 or 4 times in Kessel once I hit 1211, including Imperial squadrons.

I love the space combat. But I mentioned to my friend that it took too long to kill enemies (I'm a 1/1/1/1 TIE pilot btw)

Then I realised I was shooting at the ship and not the target reticle. I read the best bet is to aim somewhere between the reticle and the ship, as the ship's shields shimmering is client side not server side. Now I blow a tier one up in maybe 15 seconds, a tier two in maybe half a minute to 45 seconds, and a tier three if it's alone I can kill in about 1 minute thirty to 2 minutes.

JtL rocks my socks, it's exactly what I wanted in SWG, it's fun, exciting, the AI is terrible but that can be fixed easily, and most importantly, it's MMO! I used to play SWG for about 6 mos after it first came out and I thought the missions were boring as all hell. JtL's missions to me are exciting and give an air of you actually doing something to help a cause, which I felt was what SWG lacked when I quit a year and a half ago.

My verdict on SWG now~ freaking sweet.

A continuation;

Oh noes! Space combat takes time! I have to do stuff like move my ship around and maneuver to get behind them to shoots them! Oh noes! Plus who wants to spend time doing things!? I want ace in a 25 minute session!

I like that it takes time. I don't care if that sounds stupid. I like blowing shizzle up. I like practicing piloting maneuvers on them. I like watching a tier three trying to out maneuver me, and me just staying on him (I'm in the very first TIE you can get). I dig JtL the way it is.

You complain it takes more than 5-6 shots to blow something up. Firstly, I've been blowing up tier 1's with my starter TIE in about 8 shots. Secondly, I seem to receall shooting at one of those little frog things, Gorts maybe. It took me about 8 shots to kill it, If I recall. Now, if you can find me a frog, or even a dog or a wolf that can take 8 shots to kill if you're hitting center mass, I will worship it as a Pagan God.

SWG isn't realistic, or else we'd all die in every combat from 1-4 shots depending on how bad the person who's shooting at you is.
