Krayt scales go into the segment when the segment is created. You need the number plus 1 for each schmatic piece you want to use the scales in. They more their resists from general to special, which basicly makes effectiveness slices useless. Don't know much about NS stuff, hope this helps though.

That does help some Owako, anyone know anything about NS shards? And is it one or the other or can both be used?

You can use the scales and NS shards in the same segments. You would need a lot of the same in order to run them in a factory to make anything other than gloves though. The shards go in the layer slots and the scales go in the armor enhancement slot. I have not found the Krayt scales to be very useful, but I don't think the ones I got were very high quality anyways.

The Krayt segments are already 'premade' segments so you can't add anything too them. In general they'd need to be 21% or more to get decent resists or to compare to regular Advanced Composite. I used some 21% ones and I could make better ones myself. I guess it depends on your resources though.

I don't have a lot of experience with either one, but this is what I have gleaned so far.

You can't use Shards and Scales at the same time. They are segment enhancements.

There is only one segment enhancement slot to a segment. Thus, to use both scales and shards would not be possible. Only a layer will fit into a layer slot.

Ok, we are talking about different things. I have Nightsister Armor Layers. Those for sure go in the layer slot. The "shards" I agree should go in the enhancement slot.

I thought I heard someone say that you can put the shards in layers to help keep the ham costs down in layed armor, is this true? And you sparked my interest StarchMonkey, I have never heard of NS armor layers... anyone care to enlighten me on both of these matters?

I really appreciate all the help you guys are giving me! You guys are great
