Screens look really nice there also seemed to be a tiny hint that there would be added stuff tothe "ground section" of swg too with extra professions and races. I'm guessing most of those will be to do with the space section but it will be interesting to see what other stuff comes with the space expansion.

Well thanks for that, you will now be stuck with me the next 24/7 until release ![]()
Look nice, I hope there will be support for the joystick or game pads beside the keyboard.

Twitchy combat is great, I want to feel on the run like in the movies, that excitement must be felt!
If there are large ships that I can place items in and move around in, than that's just going to rawk. However I don't see it happening...can the servers keep track of 125 items moving fast in space? And when you store the ship, you're storing all those items and teh same with pulling them out. I'm really worried and yet really excited. :-|

/cheer
after months (or years?
) finally the official announcment for SE!
not to say that i'm very happy for space expansion, expecially if it will grab ideas and mechanics from games so funny and solid as the x-wing/tie fighter series (tie fighter is still one of my fav games
)

This looks very coolbut I hate the idea of calling our ships from the data pad I wanted to head to a Rebel hide out, talk toNPC and get teleported to a instanced (right word?) docking bay containing my ships then viewing a CGI video of my ship blasting off
obviously Neutrals would do something similar at a standard star port.
just think of calling your ship from the datapad as the Valet Droid getting your ship out of the Starpart hanger for you.
I still thinka "Star Wars: Rebel Strike" hanger and take off would be better ![]()

I wonder -- will this just be a space combat sim, or will there be places to go and explore in space, like docking with capital ships and space stations and exploring their interiors?

Nice screenshots, but disappointed to learn the game will be very twitchy. We don't use Unreal to resolve ground fights. The accuracy of a pilot/gunner should be determined by the character's skills. If we wanted to play X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, we'd play X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter. In an MMORPG, it should be the character's skills that are the most important. That's not say smart tactics by the player shouldn't have any bearing, but this shouldn't be an arcade game.
oh gods no. the problem with MMORPG is its reliance on dice rolls to determine combat hence the extreme minority of full time PVPers compaired to PVE PVP just is not fun when the sole skill in it is how good a set of macros you have and how many stimpacks you can roll out....
moving to actual player skill as a factor is a DAMN fine step

Great... cant wait to see 10 billion "Millenium Falcons" flying all over the place...
I seriously hope that the "MF" ship is not a player-owned craft...
Mercenary crafts were SIMILAR to the "MF" but not every player should have
the EXACT SAME "MF" template as Han-Solo...
His ship was unique.
As in that was the ONLY one in existance, anywhere.
