I wonder if they'll do a downloadable version as well... I'm too lazy to go to the store and my connection is fast enough that it wouldn't matter... that's my wish

Preordering = the suck.
Retailers will always put the game on the shelf before shipping to preorders if they are in a crunch to meet demand. They can sell the same game twice by just putting it on the shelf and making the pre-orderers wait until they get more in. Both Best Buy and EB have done the exact same thing in the past, most recently with City of Hereos and UT2K4. I can't speak for Amazon.
I myself don't preorder - I prefer to get my game before I give them my money, not the opposite.

I mad the mistake of pre-ordering SWG from amazon and the SOBs shipped it out late and I got it 3 days after it was already on the shelfs. Thats the last time I pre-order from a online site. I will just pick this up on the day it hits the store unless they make a extremly limited edition leather bound box with rare goodies inside.

Hehe, even if it is super rare - you can always count on retailers having their shelfs lined with it the day they get it (or on release day if they get it early).
Two examples on preorders..
City of Hereos. They promised a 3 day headstart for beta testers via the downloaded client from beta. What they failed to mention was that the headstart stopped after those three days whether your preorder had arrived or not. In most cases the preorders arrived - oh around three days late. Do the math heh.
UT2k4 - Friends preordered this game. Went to Best Buy to complain about it not arriving only to find the shelves of Best Buy fully stocked with the game Best Buy said they didn't have available to ship. Ofcourse they didn't they could make more money faster by selling them on the shelves first and shipping the preorders after they had plenty more to meet the demand.

Yeah, I've had the same happen... where games come in before the pre-orders to. So I pre-order my game anyway, just in case, then I always show up on the day of release and if they have it, I buy it and cancel my pre-order.
