Case by case basis??

You clearly have no concept of how your courts work... do you?

Are you aware of the population of your country? About 293 million people... a significant percentage of which is under the age of 18.

Now -- by your logic, you would backlog every single court in the US for 200 years (you are aware most courts are currently backlogged by4 years.. right?).... imagine what would happen with every single minor signing a contract, violating it and then having to go to court to "prove he was of sound mind" .... you'd choke the judicial system to a dead halt.

You're basically asking the court to look at a youth and say: "Hmm, well this youngster seems smart enough -- the contract was binding ." etc.... you'd murder the system with endless cases of challenges and appeals.

The law exists to ensure the judicial process runs as smooth as humanly possible... they picked an arbitrary number of 18 and said anyone under that age isn't wise enough to know what the hell they are doing (which is true in my experience.. teenagers seem to think they know everything and that they're invincible... believe me, I know .. I am 25 now.. my teenage years werent all that long ago and I remember them well).

Perhaps 18 is too low... but that's your law.. if you don't like, begin a political movement to change it.. perhaps in a a few years or a decade or so you might instill change.

In Canada, the age to legally be bound to a contract is 16 only.
