Yes. It would be advisable to proceed as planned.

But I do recommend you err on the side of caution as the end result could be deemed a bannable offense.

lol. Just checked back to see if anyone had answered and everythign i had written had disappeared!

Well I'll start again! I'm not THAT much of a noob, honest!!!

Right then. firstly yes I'm a respec Chef.

I wanted to know how many of you harvest your own resources and if you do purchase them, roughly what kind of price do you pay. I now it varies from server to server, but I'd like to start crafting while I am gathering my own resources.

Also what kind of a mark up do you guys use?

I have seen from the schematics that a lot of the food/drink have an option for BE crafted additives. I wondered how necessary these are firstly, and also what additives are best. I have seen from a post on my server's trade forum that someone was selling various Chef orientated additives but I didn't recognise the names from the schematics so was hoping someone here could put me in the right direction. The guy had broad spectrum nutrients, Intelligent nononutrientsand Micronutrient supplements and I have no idea what any of this stuff is!

Lastly these nutrients comes in a crate of 25. I presume i need 1 for each unit i make that has an option for these. So if i do a run of 1000, I presume I will need to buy 1000 nutrients....

Any other tips or suggestions of what to make would be good.

Thanks.

Right then. firstly yes I'm a respec Chef. Congratulationson recognizing the best profession in the game.

I wanted to know how many of you harvest your own resources (only if it is something really special and i want 10 million units of it) and if you do purchase them, roughly what kind of price do you pay.On Tempest i pay 1 to 2 cpu if it is a grinding qualityresource for sub-components and 5 to 10 cpu if itis production quality. There is a couple resources I would pay 100 cpuplus for though. Meats andhidestend to be 20 to 40 cpu if it is production or nutrient quality. I now it varies from server to server, but I'd like to start crafting while I am gathering my own resources.

Also what kind of a mark up do you guys use? I have a spreadsheet that Imade that calculates the mark-up. Such information is strictly confidential Not really, it is 50% to 75% mark-up on most foods from market value of resources used in the food. It does take into consideration costs of factories, vendors, and structures. These dont seem like much of a cost until you are running 42 factories. You should calculate your prices as if you purchased all resources used for market price whether you harvested them yourself or not. This way, when you inevitably do buy resources (which you will if you are a high-production chef) you will have your costs covered. I have never put a new food on my vendor and got a tell complaining about the price. I have gotten tells complaining becauseI raised a price of a food I was already selling.

I have seen from the schematics that a lot of the food/drink have an option for BE crafted additives. I wondered how necessary these are firstly, and also what additives are best. You will find that to compete, you will need to make bio'ed foods. I currently employ 20 to 30 hunters when meats for nutrients are available. I like to get 2 to 3 million units of a nutrient quality meat when one is available. There is a market for non-bio'ed foods, but it is generally to suppliment a menu of bio'ed foods. The nutrients that you will be using most are power enhancing nutrients.

Micronutrients - Used for light food additives

Broad Spectrum Nutrients - Used for medium food additives

Intellegent Nanonutrients - Used for heavyfood supliments

Lastly these nutrients comes in a crate of 25. I presume i need 1 for each unit i make that has an option for these. So if i do a run of 1000, I presume I will need to buy 1000 nutrients....I never even bother with buying a run less than 1000. This way I get the most production for my time.

Any other tips or suggestions of what to make would be good.

I would suggest going to visit other Chefs on your server. Preferrable the ones that have been in business for a while. This will give you an idea of pricing as well as menu. It is also a good idea to figure out a "specialty food" that no one else is making on your server. This can help notch out a corner of the market for you.

Thanks.

Good luck

Thanks for what is easily one of the most comprehensive answers I've ever gotten on the forums.

I am having to buy the BE stuff as I am not a BE as well and nor is any of my alts but thankfully he is one of the best around and easily one of the cheapest so it shouldn't put costs up significantly.

What I wanted to know was is being a 12pt Chef worth it? I ahve just bought an 11pt Suit off a friend and am scouring my server for a few more ca's but I was wondering how much of a difference it actually made. Also I was told I would have to have a drink (can't remember name of it) at the same time ot get my 12pts....not sure if this is true.

I can't think of much else right now, but if you have nay other tips then I'd be grateful.

I was not a BE when I started out. For a long time I bought every nutrient i could find as well as paying for meat and harvesting flora. BE's that you buy from generally wont have a problem selling you a schematic made from your resources as well.

What I wanted to know was is being a 12pt Chef worth it? Experiment points are very important. The make the difference as much, if not more than the resources you use. I ahve just bought an 11pt Suit off a friend and am scouring my server for a few more ca's but I was wondering how much of a difference it actually made. Also I was told I would have to have a drink (can't remember name of it) at the same time ot get my 12pts....not sure if this is true. Alot of people use Bespin Port while they are crafting. I myself do not. Force sensitive crafting trees do make a huge difference though.

Sorry, three more questions.

Do different drinks require different conatiners or can I use the same type for all?

Is food assembly ca's worth getting?

And what area is best to focus my experimentation on? Filling or buff quality?

Thanks for your great answers! I'm looking forward to being a Chef!!

Is food assembly ca's worth getting? No. I could explain but not without getting tired-head. Just take m yword for it.

And what area is best to focus my experimentation on? Filling or buff quality? Depending on the resources used, you will get different starting points on food stats. I generally put experimentation into at least 2 lines in all foods and sometimes 3 lines. Depends on how i precieve the food will be used.

Same three containers (small glass, large glass, cask) work for all drinks.

Is food assembly ca's worth getting?

Right now: not really. They only improve the success type of the initial assembly ("good", "great", "amazing"). Critical failures on assembly don't eat your resources/components anymore, and at Master Chef, you'll get a "great" success 90-95% of the time anyway. And there's no benefit to an "amazing success" on assembly.

And what area is best to focus my experimentation on? Filling or buff quality?

It really depends on the type of food. For most foods, I spend roughly 40% of my points in Flavor (buff duration) and 60% in Nutrition (buff size). For some, I do focus more on filling (especially the high-filling ones like Vercupti and Breath of Heaven) to get them to a more manageable level.

Thanks for your great answers! I'm looking forward to being a Chef!!

Very new to the Artisan profession and it seems that I am finding difficulty turning a profit. I have built up XP by building deeds and then selling them (Slowly) on the Bazaar. I'm also limited to what I can sell on the Bazaar so I have just opened up a vendor in my home city of Doom on Dantooine (Bloodfin server). How do I advertise this remote location and drag people in off the streets to buy my wares?

Also I hear talk of factories. What exactly do they do and how do I get one?

Final set of noob questions then I promise I will shut up and listen. I have just started making vehicles. How do I make crates of vehicles and how do I sell these on the market for more than 20k if I can't get anyone to take the drive out to my vendor? Then, where do I go from here? I am undecided between Armorsmith and Weaponsmith and having read both forums carefully, I am still undecided.

Thanks for your replies.

Answers from another n00b... Once you have Advertising III (in the Merchant skill tree), your vendor can be set to show up in the Planetary Map, too, which will help in addition to the suggestions above. Joining a guild also might be worthwhile, or at least getting a vendor put in a mall or 'shopping district' of a player city.

Factories take manufacturing schematics crafted by you (in lieu of an actual prototype) and the exact same components/resources that you used for said schematic and produce the item in large quantities. You don't get crafting XP for any of the items except for the manufacturing schematic, but they can be the ticket to having plenty of a particular item for sales. I made several hundred Vehicle Customization Kits, for example, which is keeping my bills paid while I explore the elite crafting professions.
