The BH must deliver the Deathblow. If he does not then the mission is still active. No BH with mission Deathblow then no XP and no Payment.

On the same note, if a Jedi has a group member deathblow you then the mission is still active from what I understand.

Ok, I have developed my character to the extent that I want, and I am looking for the "next step" in terms of gameplay. I have read about unlocking your FS, but I have a couple of questions.
When in the process do I get the dreaded "perma-death?
If I train in FS, it sounds like I'll be spending a lot of time fighting BHs. Is this true? I ask this one because unlike most people, I really don't want to do any PvP.
Any advice?

perma-death was removed.

and while you are FS you cannot be hunted by BH only when you get to jedi padawan and then you only get hunted if you gain visibility (see jedi forums on what gives you visibility)

and no offense, but if you don't want to do any PvP, Jedi isn't for you so if you want to do FS just for the rewards / challenge / 2nd char then thats fine but you won't have fun as a jedi if you don't like pvp since you will most likely be forced to it

So, are there any skills I can pick up (like melee defense tree) that can help me without getting into the PvP? I have a few skill points left and was thinking that some of the initial FS skills could be benificial to me. I don't think I am interested in working through the jedi ranks, just want to get some of the initial skills to boost my character. Plus, carry a lightsaber sounds fun. But, that will get me "noticed".

Actually, I just wanted to add this:

Unlike what Tathizar said, you don't need to fight any BHs at all if you play Jedi wisely: out in the boondocks contemplating, meditating on the meaning of life (while killing hundreds of creatures). The existentialist view of the Jedi, borne out of the Samurai whose ideals Lucas has used, would be realized at one point or another. These manifest in such questions as, "Why am I doing these repetitive tasks? Is there any reason at all?" Such agonizing, jealous, angry thoughts shall come to one's mind at one point while "grinding." What SOE didn't realize was that they DID IN FACT make Jedi as close as possible to what would have been expected of them. The player themselves shall gain the wisdom through repetitive tasks, much in the same way a warrior learns combat and the wisdom therein through repetitive training and kata. Of course, you may disregard those who have simply bought their "Jedi" (i.e. lightstick-happy 1337 dewds who don't show any Jedi-esque qualities at all) instead of earning it. They have not yet realized one's purpose through the meditative state gained through "grinding" and "grinding." Just realize that once you're there, the utter horror and realization of some shall disgust them from further touching the tainted Jedi profession. Much the way Sartre and Barrett realized the lingering feeling of irrationality that pervade's man's inner self no matter how much they run away in the confines of logic, reason- the great Western man! This itself is even shown in the boards that nobody realizes: the constant cry of, "It doesn't make sense! It's not fair! But...but...I've tried so hard and it's so empty!?" Yes, the utter horrific cries of anguish that come from those who shall not accept reality. It's only the Jedi's destiny, right?

yes there are ways to avoid jedi while you grind, but everyone knows that eventually you will get tired of not showing your saber or skills off or you just want to hunt with other players... so at some point you will begin getting hunted by jedi

The skills you get in the fs grind do help, +12 melee speed is awesome if you are swordsman or pike. An attachment with +12 two handed speed would cost you millions. Some may be a waist but some do help a lot.

So, if I'm a TKM, the FS skills are a waste to me? I'm looking for something to do because I have maxed out my TKM, and about to catch my last 2 creature under MCH. I really do not want to do any other professions, go to lightspeed, or get into PvP. Sounds like the game may be over for me. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do in the game now? Or, should I just wait for another MMORPG to come out?

Make Friends?? Enjoy what you have accomplished. I myself is master fencer.. I didnt see the speed bonus from FS since TK and Fencer profession cap on speed when mastered. When things are slow for me and not much of my guild is online, I hit Dant and ruin the lives of serveral Huurton Stalkers. When things light up, I get on with my ingame life and do things with fellow guild members.

There is some challenge to the FS quests. Phase I crafting mastery quest, craft 4 items and calibrate them while they are still useable when you get done with the calibration. Almost lost one. I find stuff in the game that makes it enjoyable for me. Not sure if any of this makes sense, kind of zoning out at work right now * sigh * Just adding my two credits worth

i agree with the "challenging" part of the fs quests: just read ppl's complaints about the melee accuracy quest in phase 3 which was one of the best things i've experienced in swg yet...try it if only for doing smth else.also the rewards arent too shabby either

From what I canunderstand, the FS skills are only the path to get you to Jedi now. I've completed mine and my current skills are not enhanced or better as a result of obtaining the FS skills. My Teras Kasi abilities are still the same, I'm not faster, etc. My crafting skills haven't changed for the better and so on. To me it was just a wasted 24 skill points that was needed to unlock my Jedi. I've also been told by people that the FS skills don'tassist in Jedi or make Jedi better.
