Thread: Just out of curiosity, am I the only one who thinks JTL is working as intended, and well?

JTL saved SWG for me. In a time when the ground game was dominated by DOTs and jedi (which it still is) there was an alternative to get away from it, and still bank well and help my guild. I too was impressed at how well it worked initially, and now that I think about it, I never really took the time to say "thanks" for such a well-done delivery.

Well, it *is* changing with the departure of GrindBot from the Development Team. SoE shook things up quite a bit in the past three months. A thread discussing current bugs WITH THE RESPONSE FROM A DEVELOPER INTERJECTED THROUGHOUT was unheard of a mere six months ago. There's hope.

Oh yes, I agree, the horizon's been looking very, very bright recently! It's just that Ratape made it sound like its always worked this way. I have been playing this since Day 1 (technically Day 2 ) and that certainly has not been the case.

I have to say that on the whole JTL was infinitely more polished when it came out than the ground game was. Someone was obviously listening to the community, and they were determined not to make the same mistakes twice. My only concern is that the expansion lacks any real purpose. Advancing through your profession is exciting and fun, especially when you're grouped, but after you destroy the Corvette, you find yourself asking what's next. Right now, there isn't any answer to that. Having a pilot correspondent who flakes out and disappears doesn't help either.

@swordnmace:

after mastering you have the opporunity to answer the important questions of JTL:

is there a cap of prestige?

can i get the ultimate ship loadout or can i find a batter part?

how many FPs can i stockpile?

i fully agree on JTL. its a nice addition to the ground game.

and mastering and tweaking out every ship to the max is still a huge task.

As with most games, there are problems, but you just let the player correspondants know and they'll get taken care of.

Sorry, not to get down on what is intended to be an upbeat post (which I agree with!), but that comment there really jumped out at me. Don't we wish it worked out like that?

Having played since release, you wouldn't believe the changes I have seen this game go through after they started the player correspondant system. Is it perfect? No, but I definently think voicing the concerns to a player correspondant will get the problem taken care of at some point in time, or at least raise the chances of that problem getting taken care of. The only problem I myself have with JTL right now is the fact I am stuck unable to find enough people to kill the corvette, and that's because it's hard to find helpful people on Lowca (Just look at how bad the lowca galaxy forums are)

More to be added, but tell me someone else truly enjoys the game as is, and doesn't think anything major needs changing.

I enjoyed all that also, I just didnt enjoy spending 8 hours a daysearching forother overts, usely to know avail. We just have RPGers and manga fanswanting to alter FPS to more their style-10-15 minutefights like there slaying dragons or something, not fighting inspace ships. The I became enlightened to more exciting games where 2-5 shotfights is what its all about. I guess i just grew up playing galaga is my problem. Your ship dies in one hit on that game EVERY TIME.

You're right, I wouldn't believe the changes, hehe. I have also played since release, and for several months after the correspondent system was introduced, the only thing that ever came of it was the monthy "Give us your top 5 issues" thread by the devs, when the top 5 issues for every profession were already stickied to top of their boards. Now, I'm not saying that no progress was made, but there certainly wasn't much of it either.

I'm also not saying that the devs did nothing at all, they did do quite a bit, but as far as the whole corresponent thing went, for most of us it was like talking into a black hole.

Recently, of course, things have gotten much, much better in terms of communication and implementation. What strikes me about your comments is that you make it sound like the system has always been as productive as it is now, and I just want to emphasize that it wasn't always this way.

That being said, I really don't disagree with you, lol! I am really excited about the direction the game and the devs have taken lately, and I feel that JtL was extremely well done. The only major flaw in it as far as I'm concerned is the dearth of any master level content, and lack of interesting loot items. But otherwise, I'm logging flight time every day, and hardly ever see the ground anymore!

I definently would love more master level content, especially when I finally hit master! But indeed the correspondant system has not been as productive as it has been now. I also very rarely spend time on the ground, and once I hit master pilot I'll be spending even less time.

I feel its mostly working as intended, Although Tier 5 ships should take less hits to kill but deal a bit more damage when they hit you.

Ever see tier 5 NPC ships go at it? they take like 1-2 % off shields per hit, kinda makes you wonder.

When JTL launched, I absolutely loved it! I have recently spent most of my time on the ground, but I extremely enjoy getting into space every chance I get (take).

I'm a big SWG/JTL fan, all encompassing. Great fun and money well spent.

Good job SOE.

yes I also salute you for this post ......I love jtls and hate people moaning about it ......to me its a fairer system rather than going up against some guy on the ground thats got like 5 years of xp and getting your but kicked ...... you are up in space fighting on your wits and reflexes to high degree. Great stuff I just wish I saw more pilots on the european chrimera server willing to group up and help each other ....hell thats whats stopping me from getting master :-(

ahh sifer 2 :-) Im just skim reading this thread and i see im not the only one who thinks there are not enough people to help with missions.

I would also like to say that many have liked stopped piloting at 2222 and the alike .....which I think is a tad short sighted in my opinion.....One of many reasons for this is that .....well if your a pure combatent ......there is no better way to make money. I must say im commando 1021 so i still have a while to go but up until now ....im making HEAPS more money piloting.
