If it isnt compatible I'm not going to get it. I will not pay a large amount of money extra AGAIN. Back when SWG came out in the US I preordered the collectors edition (70 euro or so) but the total costs came down to about 110 euro with an extra amount of cash after 6 months (some forgotten import tax, refused to pay it)
Loved the beta though...

think soe shouldinform play.com to stop telling lies to increase their sales
i own 2 copies - 1 states / 1 euro
there cant be any technical difference as the game is exactly the same worldwide on all servers - just various resource shifts - or SOE would be in dire legal difficulty

Or they hope that people will buy both the euro swg and jtl at play.com. 'cause it's cheaper to buy both at play.com than to import only JTL. I think they don't realize that people won't do that because new swg account means new char or char transfer (and paying even more money :S )

I was just about to pre-order JTL from play.com when I noticed the 'will not work on US SWG' statement. I came straight onto the boards and found this thread.
I can't believe there are two versions, it just doesn't make sense. The code to run the games must be the same I can not see them putting different code in just because it's going to run on european machines. I'm sure the servers in Europe and US will have the same code running on them.
Dev's can we have an answer please

It's cheaper to import for me with the weak dollar...
Play.com = £25
Gamespot = $29 + $15 for shipping = £24.30
Play.com = £25
Gamespot = $29 + $15 for shipping = £24.30
It's only £17.99 at play.com with free postage just fyi

You forgot to add on the import duty which you will probably have to pay upon delivery - that can sometimes be the same amount of shipping itself (even more maybe).
I for one am not concerned about this as there is not a US and a Euro version of the game - they are exactly the same.

Why can't we get an answer here? Shouldn't be to hard to answer. A simple yes or no will do.

no no no..
see it the other way around,... just one manual all in american english. done.
the whole world can read american english. so also the german have to read it.
and btw u think the EU version is in German, French or Dutch? Hell no.. its simply in English.
so then again, hellit doesnt make totally no sense to have 2 versions if the software AND the manual is in english.

Translated manual. I don't think an american want to read a german manual. Software will be the same.
Don't think they're not compatible because of the manual
If they're not compatible it's because of some software difference and that seems very hard to believe. Every other UK online gamestore I checked doesn't mention this at all, only play.com.
Please can we get an answer to this?
/beg /beg /worship dev (ow no according to friday feature that last command doesn't work until jtl

I just say how it is. Buy the german Version of Starwars galaxies and you have a german manual. Buy the american Version an you have an english manual. There are also a few differences concerning the CD Case.
It will be exactly the same with JTL. Maybe different manual, but same software. And so no incompatibility.

do you believe there are several EU versions of the game, cuz of the different languages in EU?
so we have german manuals, french manuals, dutch manuals..
I believe im totally mistaken.. cuz Derot showed me something that is true, cuz tha launchpad has 5 different languages... hmhmh >> I apologize Desotho
Ok now this means one of the Dev's should make this clear up whether or not EU versions are compatible with US versions and vice-versa?

If all this talk about incompatibility is true, I swear to god, I'm going to shoot the devs. I have quite a few good friends on Gorath that are European...
