Thread: Racial bonuses

Alright, I'll calm it down and put down a concise reply.

Yes, it is true that there are already bonuses in the game for specific species. Frankly, just thinking about this from a game play perspective, they were added for the same reason as differant HAM: to keep things different so we all don't feel like clones running around (see composite armor :smileywink.

What makes a +10 ship building idea any different? Simple, it affects the gameplay mechanics much more than you people realize. [First off, as a side note, mon cals already recieve crafting bonuses, why should give them even MORE of a crafting advantage?] How will it affect the economy for example?

-Even just 1 more experimentation point can make a big difference. If you knewof two equal crafters, a human and a mon cal, wouldn't you choose the mon cal for the more powerful item? Well, that kinda logic does two things. Creates economic bias toward people who play a mon cal char. andgives newer crafters an even harder time to break into the market vs established crafters than there is now.

-Mon cals have very high penalties to the empire and most likely, many of those arepeople who play them are rebels. This means that it gives the rebellion another advantage because those crafters are most apt to sell to (or only to) their faction and guild.

Anything related to RL or another post was put in there to help support the thinking behind the example, nothing more.

Yes, you are correct, this is about species, not races and it is a shame so many players get it mixed up. I apologize for not paying enough attention to that, that was a rare lapse on my part.

To whatever ignorant bone head said something along the lines of "yeah, lets listen to ErwinRommel lecture us about nazi superiorty", I ask you to please kick yourself in RL then stop posting here because you missed the entire point being made (very much about equality and not favoring a certain species) and the fact that you are a idiot on history. If you knew even rudimentary history of World War 2, you would have known that Erwin Rommel was not a Nazi, just a career military professional (and a damn good one at that!) in the army, not SS. And as the common rumor goes, he is thought to have been part of an attempt to assassinate Hitler. Wise up.

At the risk of further digression:

Yes, it is said that Rommel wasn't a Nazi, just as many other generals directly under Hitler "weren't Nazis." And it's true he was one hell of a military genius. However, Rommel was repeatedly decorated by Hitler himself, including receiving a distinction as one of Hitler's personal protectors. Simply put, he was the face of Axis power. The Nazis sure didn't mind using Rommel's success as a propaganda tool. I know he was implicated in the plot to kill Hitler, but numerous sources say he actually told the group of conspirators NOT to kill Hitler for fear it would make him a martyr. But most importantly, Rommel _ like many other German military leaders (and Germans generally) _ only started to turn against Hitler after it was very clear Germany was going to lose the war in a big way and Hitler would not surrender to the Allied Powers. Maybe Rommel had very enlightened attitudes about the "master race" contrary tohis bosses, but that evidently didn't stop him from racing across western Europe and northern Africa with his Panzer divisions.

All I was saying is that it was ironic that someone would use one of Nazi Germany's greatest war heroes to lecture others on Nazism and racial superority. And by the way, I frankly think there is nothing wrong with giving certain species bonuses for either attributes or skills. Remember the movies? "Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me."

For the sake of not turning this into a Rommel debate (and I easily could because I don't get my facts from whatever idiotic web blog you did), I just wanna ask one thing: Where the hell did you get off ANYWHERE Tulsaikid saying im lecturing about "nazi superioity"? Where the hell did that come from? Please enlighten me before I have to sick my neo-nazi comrades on you

Try not to learn your history from New-Age-Communist.com and maybe you'd seem smarter.

Heyo,

I dont recall seeing this covered in the F.A.Q., but do the racial crafting benefits matter much? I made my crafter a bothan for fun n rp reasons, but if I will never be as good a crafter as those races that do get weaponsmith bonuses, I will cringe as I ponder re-creating my character and re-grinding artisan and four boxes of weaponsmith. Do the racial weaponsmith bonuses make any realdifference and make it much easier to get to 12 points?

I think fish get extra assembly or something. Overall it doesnt make any difference, we all have to get the 20 extra experimentation so we can be 12 point weaponsmiths and other stuff. It shouldnt make much of a difference.

Ah I went and doublechecked, only weapon assembly bonuses, which wouldnt effect points or make all that much diff that food can make up. Humans do get +15 ArtisanExperimentation and while would be nice for Pups wouldnt really need for anything else. Guess will stick with my bothan, and maybe have my little brother take up artisan for pups Thanks much!
