Im so sick of this crap, why the heck should I have to be an alien just to build a ship better? You think they weren't genius ship designers of all races in the SW galaxy? When all is said and done, why should I be worse at shp making then a player who is a fish? Grow up you 12 year old fanboy, we have to take in to consideration the gameplay, not just naive conception of the SW universe.

Lol, I love that quote "some people are just better at doing thigns than others". Fair enough, but your missing the point! The point is that a whole RACE of people can't automatically be better at doing something, there will be exceptions like in anything else! Why can't a mon cal be a good pilot and a human be a good crafter? Hmm. What, so by your logic only african people know how to hunt anything and everyone else, because they are not african, is totally clue less? Give me a break, that's such an inane thought process!


I have a better idea, how bout you give stat modifiers to people who earned them by playing the game, not people who clicked mon cal - generate character on the start screen?


See, heres the thing about that comment against the racial bonuses in the empire. The empire in the game has the racial penalties on purpose to discourage aliens from joining the empire (how many wookie stormtroopers did you see in the movie?) and to keep them from owning bases (how many wookie generals did you see in the movie?). So Lets be reasonable here: To whoever joined the game saying "I wanna be a mon cal in the empire and I wanna command a legion of STs and a ISD!", I have to ask this? Did you even watch the SW movies?


Sorry I came off at a jackass but ever since the start of the game I have seen whine post after whine post about idiots wanting the racial penalties removed from the empire for nonhumans and when I see more of these style of posts it just ticks me off because it goes against all logic. You and the devs want continuty, no? Then here's a solution I always liked, give imperial non-humans the option to perm. switch their char toa human model but keep all their skills/stuff and then make it so non-humans can't join the empire!


If theres one thing I hate in these posts is just mindless ideas going against all logic in RL and against the SW storyline. You wanna bea wookie in the GCW? Join the rebellion, power to ya.

It is almost as bad as that guy who posted the idea and pettition for Coruscant to be a playable planet in the SE without thinking how that would be techincally and temporally impossible and pointless at the same time (how fun would it be to run across a planet wide city and only see npcs and no one else?).

If you saw a post in the GCW forum a while back on what people were politcally in a faction, you'd have seen that half the imps who answered said they were liberals or democrats. If you wanna haveat mypoints, go ahead, but instead of flaming me why don't you actually rebut my arguments? I welcome a debate, but no more of that "typical ingorant Imperial space nazi logic" crap.

I know I am kinda patching two different pieces together here but it is hard to think about this in RL since we only know of 1 intelligent race. But in the Star Wars Universe (and in the movies) certain species were known for there race's special abilities. The Bothans were expert slicers. Mon Cals were peaceful people that excelled in the arts and in particular creating large space craft, etc. Soit would be fair to say thatof the"better" shipwrights, Mon Cals probablytopped the list as far as shear numbers. That isn't to say that a human couldn't be the best overall, maybe just not as many. And there sure wasn't many Ewok shipwrights. So it is expected that one or maybe two races would either be genetically or socially better at certain things. I totally agree with what you said and I highlighted in red. No one is saying that any race can't be a good ship builder. A +10 to a skill isn't a big deal but it assures that the mon Cals are good ship builders as expected from the SW Universe. So are you saying that all the added stats that humans or wookies, etc have in the game now is completely horrible and unfair?

I am not sure why you are talking about this. Maybe some one else posted about the racial bonus thing but we weren't talking about this and it doesn't relate to Mon Cals getting +10 to ship building as the original poster wrote. Maybe you thought the post was about that but maybe I missed where someone else said it. If I did sorry.

Correct me if im wrong but comparing one ethnic group to another is not quite the same as one species to another...

All Races have stat bonuses its what makes each race unique...

FYI - SWG already has racial bonuses. The comment I had initially made was in reference to what Star Wars already was...


I'm no "Fan boy" - I'm just referencing something along the lines that already exists.


Where does the +10 Leadership and +15 Artisan experimentation for Humans come from? I dunno, and Idon't care. But I'm sure some race will have a bonus to building ships, and it should be Mon Cal's based on who built the battle-cruisers. (BTW, the B-Wing was designed by Akbar - so it's not just in reference to battleships).

Actually, i think you missed the point and your comparison to real life is insulting. We are talking about species bonuses not race bonuses (sorry but the subject really should say species bonus). And yes, there are differences between species that can be and are substantial, although as Hel points out after your post, we only know of one intelligent species (discussions of dolphins aside :smileywink

I have no problem with that except it's not what's being discussed here. From a game persepctive I don't see what's wrong with giving bonuses based on species though. The only reason to choose one species over another shouldn't be appearance. The way the game is set up it doesn't tie you to a specific group although if languages had been more difficult to learn & teach, it might have. Right now these sometimes small bonuses are and the appearance of the species are the only reasons to choose them, in fact there are far more reasons not to choose a species than too choose one (Trando shoes anyone?).

I agree, only a fool would be a non-human in the Empire. No arguement, in fact in another thread i say its a form of species traitor ... obviously in a role playing way only (not that i should have to say that but just to be clear).

I didn't read that attitude in my posts or in this thread. I agree that the empire doesn't want non-humans in it and that's the story line. I personally disagree with the policy of the empire not with the rules of the game or the story line.

Sorry, i don't see how the two ideas relate at all or how a bonus to ship building for mon cal's can go against any logic that i'm aware of in RL, or the sw storyline for that matter. That said, i'd love to be able to explore Coruscant. Difficult to pull of programmatically? Absolutely. But log into the game and tell me where the easy stuff is? I'm continually impress by SWG and i think that the dev's want to be challenged by the community and want to meet or exceed our expectations. Is Coruscant coming out soon? Obviously not but where's the harm telling the dev's we'd like to see it?

I never said anything about Nazi's. I don't throw that word around lightly nor would i accuse a player in the game of being a Nazi because he chose to join the Empire (that just makes him Imperial scum! :smileywink. And i'm not really sure what i'm supposed to get from your sig except maybe that red is your favorite colour and you're not into negotiations.

Feel better? Cause I still feel the same way (and yes, i'm sure that there are reb's guilty of the same thing) but i see a lot of imps (definately not all, but i'm still undecided about you) that just want things to be to their benefit and can't get beyond that to think of the bigger game. That said, this is just a game and i veiw it as such, i'm sorry if this post or my last one came off as insulting.

zabraks should get bonus to navagtion and flying... seeing as they were one of the first races to reach space...
