Thread: Privateer Tier 3 Mission Escort the Cadamo Sun
its Insane to expect people to do this mission solo
I believe they might have tweaked the mission, the YT1300 was tier 3 when I just did it, but it didn't make much difference, all seven or so craft still open up on you and yer dead in seconds.
6th time trying it and since I can not train to use level 6 and 7 components I don’t see much point in trying again.
I would have thought game developers knew better than this sort of thing.
Very disappointing, and for me now not much more point in playing JTL if I can not progress.
No I don’t have overcharge 3, I have 350,000 xp but hey I can not get trained until I complete the mission (sighs)
So yeah, I’m stuck at 3,2,2,2 with level 4-5 equipment (not a smart choice for my free box but I can not change it now)
The Devs Have Modified the Mission, all of the enemy craft in the corillian part (second half) are tier 3 and there is only one YT1300 (can not remember if there were 2 ) AND your support craft do Fight now, though your dead too fast to notice.
So Thank you Devs :-)
Though its still Suicide if you stick around and fight them directly, I noticed in the first part of this mission when you are escorting the decoy YT1300 that the incoming craft ignore you and concentrate their attacks on the YT1300 Until you attack a craft and hit it several times, then the craft you attacked will attack you.
Where in the second part all the enemy craft initially focus all of their attacks on you and you alone. From what I have seen is that the enemy craft move to engage you once you get to be about 650 – 700 range from them, this cancels the “sit at 550 just out of range” tactic. So I opted for the get in and RUN LIKE HELL tactic, what’s the point in this ? well basically it set’s off the encounter fight (yes you need to close to 650 range) all the crafts (enemy and your support start to attack) as soon as you see a message that the fight has started, turn 180 and RUN!!!!! Booster, engine overdrive and fire flares for all your worth!
Ok IF you survive and actually get away (I lost my weapons all my rear armour and chaff launcher) you may notice that the enemy ships are now dog fighting with your support. You can fly straight into the fur ball and none of the enemy craft will attack you AS LONG as you don’t attack any of them. This is where I failed last night, I picked a target and blew it to bits. The instant that I had Destroyed the enemy craft (not shot at it) ALL of the other craft disengaged their current targets and fired at me (yup blew me to bits).
So things I learnt / need to test.
1. IF I can recreate the above scenario, my Primary enemy target MUST be the YT1300, its 2 guns are just too nasty to ignore, now I may be able to sit at 550 and whittle it down or ill need to try to engage it directly.
2. More importantly I believe if I DISABLE an enemy craft, then its possible that the other enemy may not want to blast me to hell.
3. Another option is to shoot an enemy craft a few times and draw it far enough out of the dog fight that when it is destroyed you either have enough distance to safely run or they may not target you at all.
Thoughts ?

ya to me the droid commands have mad so much difference its not even funny. The first time i mastered privateer i didnt use them at all and it was just a beating but hey i still got to 4,4,4,3 before i had to group. Now i know about droid commands and know how to use them i am already 3,3,2,2 on rebel that starts in tatooine. In a week and a half but i am a casuel player that gets to play a hour or 2 a day if i am lucky.
Oh edit just to let ya know if ya dont get the overload's up to lvl3. I think the lvl4 programs just tear up your stuff to much.

Making quests where you NEED help and where you fail if you die is only encouraging people to have other people do their quests for them. Where's the teamplay in this? Especially against a large moving red mass that all target the single owner of the quest. Silly, just silly.
I am going to give this another go, probably to get raped but worth a shot anyways. I have a 2k shield, 2 2.8k weapons with .8 armour and the other .8 shields - killing tier 3s is easy, it's just that YT-1300 which is the pain
If you have issues with the escorting part, then tbh you won't stand a chance and should buy better equipment. Personally I use a 1900+ shield, 2 weapons with upwards of 2800 dmg, one with .8 for armour and the other .8 for shields. I have a capacitor which I looted and stores 870 with a recharge of 35 (and it's only 3k mass lol) and my armour sucks. Finally I have an engine which goes vroom - all paid for by loot I sold etc during tier 2.
I don't use droids, although I plan to.
So what I did (and realised from this post):
The YT1300 is your main concern. The ships move in mass, it's guns can reach pretty much anywhere and combined you die. Thinking to myself 'I need to stay out of it's range' I realised this is nearly impossible, cos it's a fast bugger and what would I shoot at? The other ships are with it.
The solution was an immediate run, all guns at the engines, then hit the boosters when I could no longer shoot at it. Result was the engines died in the first sweep (and a weapon) and when I reached my peak of booster it was well out of range. Now the fighters...
..these guys are slow, but given your last bout with the YT, your shields are probably dead (use droid command to use from cap if you can). Personally I kept flying a little, let them close to 900m, turned then burned any booster I had so I took as least damage as possible to my already heaviliy damaged front. Once inside the pack I pick them off 1 by 1, varying my speed (they cannot line up behind you or for a shooting run as easily this way) and that was that.
Escort the other ship after you quickly run for repairs - easier than the first escort of the mission and shorter.
Oh and btw, my armour sucks and got very badly damaged in the dogfight, so if you can, get them shields up.
Moral of the story, hit the YT1300 engines, an it should be disabled in 1 sweep. Boost away and ta-da, your safe, and it even blows itself up for you.
...but get a decent shield and guns, you'll need them.
The first 3 times I tried this mission, I made it to Corellia and died as 8 ships, including the tier 3 YT-1300 attakced me at the same time. I think I was luck once and lasted 45 seconds. But the fourth time I played it I came up with a plan and it actually worked. I will tell you how to solo this mission and if your ship is equiped like mine, you should come out with little to no damage.
First off, do not count on your support. They did nothing for me but sit in the place the spawned and never fired once.
Before going up I suggested you have an engine that can go a speed of atleast 84. Armor of about 1400 and a good shield for a tier 3 fighter and missles. The missions are not necessary, they actually seem to run out rather quick but they still inflicted damage which will help cut down the time.
Once coming into Corellia, head to the waypoint, and fly through it. Get around 8000 or 9000m away and let the enemy spawn. Once he saws target the YT-1300. A fly straight through the mass firing at the YT-1300. Don't turn around to see what's going on behind you, they will be following. Hit your boosters and get out of shooting range, which using your droid to repair your shield as it transfers energy from your weapons to the shields. Once your shield are close, I mean very close, to being full, turn around and do it again. It will take a little time, but the YT-1300 will eventually blow up.
Once you destroy the YT-1300, the hard part is behind you. Go straight in andpick off the little guys.
Once they are all dead, another YT-1300 will call you to dock and help with repairs and then escort it. I believe there were 3 or 4 waves of fighters which attack you before the mission is complete, but they are cake compared to what you have been through.
I hope this helps. It worked for me, and it should work for you. Good Luck.

I quit the game and came back 6 months later to still be stuck on this damn mission. You'd think the complexity of this tier three mission would be scaled back by now, eh?

After reading all these posts, i was ready to give up on this mission having failed 2 times. Third time was a charm, but thanks to a lot of the advice in this thread. If you've been following the FAQs, you know to learn component use of every tier first, and you need to deck-out your ship. For reference, both my weapons do ~1200 dmg, and armor and shields are the best I can buy (all other components upgraded as needed).
Here was what I did for the first Corelia waypoint:
- Hyper to 'Corelia's Own' and fly out to the waypoint. immediately do a 180 and head towards the space station
- The ships will spawn (dumb friends 1st, then NPCs).. for me, they all stood there in a cluster, no chasing
- start flying towards the cluster, and cycle through targets until you target the YT
- now target the YT's engine and fly straight towards it blasting away and try to take out the engine in 1 pass (don't slow down)
- once you pass it, boost as far as you can (1000 m or so) and turn around for another go
- If you haven't disabled the engine already, make sure you do it here, otherwise I'd target a weapon
- Boost towards the space station (and little boosts) and get repaired
At this point, the YT is dead in the water, and everyone should be chasing you...
Fly back and finish off the YT, and then you are free to do your usual dog fights with everyone.
I was really surprized how well this worked, once you separate the YT from everyone else, it's very achievable.
