I'm really starting to think that creation of this board should have waited till Beta. That way, there would actually be some solid facts. We could prevent threads like this that just whine for no apparent reason. Chances are pretty good that you're just misinformed and wasting time by complaining.

No need to resort to flaming. If this board wasn't here, we would all do it in some other forum where it wouldn't belong and drive the mods crazy

I do sympathize with the original poster about the concerns. The Devs are getting better at this whole "feedback" thing but you never really know what they are going to do.

"The way the content is prepared in the space expansion is like this: I'm going to have my access to Tie Fighters in the Imperial Navy, and I'll have access to certain types of ships in the Rebellion and certain types of ships as a Privateer. As I ascend each of these trees, it's required that I no longer be a full member of either of the other competing factions. What's happening here is that I just want to make sure that the content is separated in such a way that I don't have to continue to recheck your faction level or covert/over status. I'm just checking whether or not you're certified and I have a process that forces you to use that certification in getting into a ship."

At first it sounds like your faction determines exclusively which ships you can fly, until - "As I ascend each of these trees, it's required that I no longer be a full member of either of the other competing factions." You're either a member of a faction or not - there's no 'not a full member'. No being Rebel & Imperial?

I am Imperial but I sure as hell don't want to be limited to flying a Tie Fighter Variant. Three factions, 5 ships each.... Tie Bomber/Tie Fighter/Tie Interceptor... I don't expect to be able to fly an X-Wing but I do expect to be able to own a Neutral Craft. It's analogous to being in the army and being told sorry soldier, your civilian vehicle has to be jeep - off duty or not.

Unless the GCW revamp is utterly stunning this penalises people for being in a faction. I sure hope I'm wrong, I can't make much sense of what the dev is actually saying as the answers don't really give a clear picture, rather folding over themselves until it's obscured.

"Yeah, I mean...forced, yeah. When you talk about it like that it sounds bad, but it's absolutely true. There's no way in hell I'm going to let an overt Imperial fly around in an X-Wing, or a neutral for that matter. And neutrals have their own ships as well. The thing is you have to keep this separate otherwise it's going to be a bad, bad thing for everybody. You must separate the idea of being faction aligned in the game as it is now and being a part of the Imperial Navy, Rebel Navy, or Privateer space efforts."

Ahhhh - now there we have it. This is not good. I'm not impressed about this concept. Faction is a waste at present, I was a Colonel and I don't like the idea of being locked into a cramped compartment of a Tie Fighter any time I want in space.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU TROOPER YOU WILL FLY YOUR TIE FIGHTER AND YOU WILL LIKE IT!!!

I think I'll enjoy it very much. Since it's gonna be "twiched" based I'l stand more of a chance in space since my true skilld will have a direct result of the outcome. Not just the stats on the gun I'm wielding.

I look at it like this, SWG has been very "user friendly," I like the more direct approach they are attempting with factional craft. You fly as a rebel....expect to be targeted. If I dont like it, I can always resign my faction and enjoy non-pvp neutrality.
