If you want to start a thread about PvP damage, just say so. I'm sure that there are many pilots here who would be perfectly happy to tell you exactly why it's a bad idea to reduce PvP damage.
yes personly i was thinking more of a Hit system for PVP well atleast for duels, see most duels are for fun so why not make them harmless fun and use stun bolts instead of actual blaster fire, the ruel will be a 5 10 hit count based on dmg hits IE
a direct hit could be worth 3pts and a wing clip could be worth 1pts first one to take the other targets points away wins the duel and the opponets ship is disabled for 30 seconds and a space PVP raiting goes up.
tbh Deepspace is good for all space combat, FP Items fun pvp n so on. however duel outside of deepspace and you suffer ship decay
Aye, leave RL physics out out of Star Wars Universe cuz they have their OWN set of fictional laws that I like to explore and live in.. I'm physicist RL.
Lasers behave very different between RL and Star wars.. Star war laser is more of shooting a bullet style, slow and predictable.. RL laser is same as Star Trek.. Almost always hit cuz of computer but shields counteract that... Star wars.. players need to shoot lasers manually even in planes that computer could easily take over and shoot for 100% hit chance ..
Star Wars space combat follows entirely different set of physics cuz they are far far far away, long long time ago. They do not exist in our RL plane of existence.. Star Wars follows "RL" style of AIR combat, they follow laser like BULLETS, they follow computers like in 70's that can't do much for targeting. You can see how those set of rules are based off 70's where most activities are air combat and bullets are commonplace.. Star Trek is older but they surely thought way ahead of time PLUS they are BASED off OUR RL plane of existence in the future that means they MUST follow RL law of physics but they altered some to be more playable..
If you really want Star Wars to be same as RL physics, etc then MUST remove FORCE out of Star Wars. I know NONE of you want it gone.
Force exists in their universe with entirely different set of laws which is totally fine with me.. It's FICTIONAL that we can enjoy to experience something different.. Heh, stars shouldn't even streak past us while we fly in fighter in subspace in JTLbut it is there just for COOL factor..
Heck, we shouldn't hear any explosion in space or hear any planes zooming past us or hear laser blazing.. SOUND DOESNT TRAVEL IN VACUUM PERIOD.. But.. in Star Wars Universe, sound travels in space maybe cuz of "unique" medium in Space that sound can travel that we don't have any medium in RL space.. In JTL, you can see lot of materials in Space and lot of "nebulas" that does have medium.. You can see streak of vortex trailing out of our wings. Why? Cuz there is a medium there that we plow through. Cuz of medium, there is resistance.. That could explain why we can't have limitless speed and top speed does exist cuz of resistance factor.. Why did TIE need ions to power it? Ions must come from Space that could come from medium that exist in their Space to draw ions from..
Many other things that go on that can voliate RL laws but its something that we enjoy dwelling in totally different dimension which can be fun..

Maybe the "space" in the galaxy far far away, really isn't a vacuum like ours, but chock full of atmosphere and gasses, like my dad. This would explain why we have nebulae outbursts so dang often.
Oi, this should be a footnote on Godwin's law... anyway... realy all you have to say is this game is based on movies and those movies throw realism out the window in favor of story telling so this game does not have an accurate physics model because it is trying to capture the feeling of the movies.
What is the point if it is not fun? Too much realism can be a bad thing.
Space combat in all the Star Wars games was thrust based, I have played a game setup off Real physics for space it was called Elite Frontiers if my memory is correct.
Space combat was a true pain in the Rear in that game, and amounted to nothing more then jousting as one could not really stop ones momentum. And once you cut thrust you could hold a target even taking evasive manuvers in your sights till they were out of weapons range.
