  1. provide a real underlying model of inertia.

  2. have the client apply thrust in the direction required to perform arcade style turns (with an automatic full stop on release of thrust for players who prefer it). everything would appear arcade like and no one would need to be the wiser when in this mode. in fact, for most flight situations, I would want to fly in this mode and am quite certain that if someone built a combat fighter in real-life it would have an onboard computer that made the ship fly thisway.

  3. providea toggle to disable the association between the joystick and the client's application of thrust so the pilot can rotate the ship without alteringthe current heading when desired.

this would be as easy to maneuver as any arcade style sim, but would, via 3, give the option of performing the exciting combat maneuvers that are unique to non-atmospheric flight.

I have to say that I agree completely with this idea. While there are those in the community who have voiced complaints about realistic spatial physics, they are almost to a person not spaceflight enthusiasts. I think this option provides the needed variables for both types of players, and provides those of us with a real interest in spatial dogfighting and flight the opportunity to experience the space expansion they way it should be.

In the framework of what appeals ot the players in this issue, I would very much like to hear responses from the community concerning whether this dual-purpose option would appeal to everyone.

Thanks for the great info. But as others have requested, I too would like to know what constitutes a "veteran" player. I started in October (I think) when SWG was released in Europe. I'd hate to think I'd be punished based on my physical location and availability of software.

Can we PLEASE get an answer to this question? For the love of God and little ponies?

Why is this being kept a secret? Why are we, the PAYING CUSTOMERS, being treated like mushrooms? Kept in the dark and fed a bunch of [self-edit]?

Please stop jerking us around, and just answer the damn question.

Not sure if this has been covered or not, But can our ships have symbols to express our Kill Ratios on their hulls?

Like 5 Xs for Starfighters shot down and each time WE die we get an X removed? That way people can see who the REAL good pilots are?

This would be something the game would handle, not players so no cheating would be involved.

Just a thought, thanks.

We can hope. I've thought about it some more and they could potentially tie the ability to do number 3 only to certain ships if desired. They could also potentially tie the ability to do 3 to thecharacter's pilot skill level. /shrug

Ok so now that the game is established and we all have our 2 1/2 professions does this mean I have to ditch a skill to be an Imperial Pilot since I want to be the best of the best for the empire or is SOE going to extend us another skill tree for piloting?

I have one quick question. In the second JTL trailer space combat looked alittle slow like everyone was moving the speed of a y-wing at its slowest. When the game comes out,if u have a good computer,is it going to be as fast paced as Rogue Squadron 2 and 3?

I am going to PreOrder JTL right away. I just want to know if TIE fighters will be able to travel in Hyperspace? Because Vader was the only one with a TIE Intercepter that had a hyperdrive at this time in the Galaxy. Also TIEs don't have shields. Will they be upgradable? and will ships have storage compartments like a "trunk" or something? I know the YT-1300 will but what about other ships? I guess that was afew questions hehe. Good work Devs and thanks for the info.

I am not afraid! Ben tell him...*BONK*

Yah, you can pimp out your TIE fighter to include shields, hyper drive, etc. It's possible to do it, some character did it once to a crashed TIE in one of the books, can't remember who though.

Ok any ship will be able to travel in Hapyerspace, and the same gose with having shields etc, thier all componants that you can add or change.

As far as im aware the YT1300 is the onyl craft that will have storage, as the Starfighters are much smaller, ok you might get room for like 10 Items but thats it.. dont know what devs are doign with Storage yet for Fighters if thier will be any for them.

P.S Vader Tie was a Tie Advanced version 1, the version 2 of the Tie Advanced you can see in games such as X-wing vs Tie Fighter or the Tie Fighter Series etc. Not a Tie Inteceptor hehe.

Hope that answers your question, and go forth and read the forums......

Has anyone heard or seen anything that would give some indication even of which races are being CONSIDERED for the Jump to Lightspeed release?

I would very much like to know.

I would love to see Nym's race or the methane breathers, but I am going to be VERY pissed off if we get Lando's gill-faced buddy from Episode V or some damn palette variation on a human.

I just wanted to say thankyou so much for bringing the basic vision I imagined for the space expansion. Twitch based is the way to go. Hopefully down the road PA's and such will be able to populate space with capital ships and there can be huge space battles against them.
