I hope that is what they do.
- provide a real underlying model of inertia.
- have the client apply thrust in the direction required to perform arcade style turns (with an automatic full stop on release of thrust for players who prefer it). everything would appear arcade like and no one would need to be the wiser when in this mode. in fact, for most flight situations, I would want to fly in this mode and am quite certain that if someone built a combat fighter in real-life it would have an onboard computer that made the ship fly thisway.
- providea toggle to disable the association between the joystick and the client's application of thrust so the pilot can rotate the ship without alteringthe current heading when desired.
this would be as easy to maneuver as any arcade style sim, but would, via 3, give the option of performing the exciting combat maneuvers that are unique to non-atmospheric flight.

Thanks for the great info. But as others have requested, I too would like to know what constitutes a "veteran" player. I started in October (I think) when SWG was released in Europe. I'd hate to think I'd be punished based on my physical location and availability of software.

Not sure if this has been covered or not, But can our ships have symbols to express our Kill Ratios on their hulls?
Like 5 Xs for Starfighters shot down and each time WE die we get an X removed? That way people can see who the REAL good pilots are?
This would be something the game would handle, not players so no cheating would be involved.
Just a thought, thanks.

I have to say that I agree completely with this idea. While there are those in the community who have voiced complaints about realistic spatial physics, they are almost to a person not spaceflight enthusiasts. I think this option provides the needed variables for both types of players, and provides those of us with a real interest in spatial dogfighting and flight the opportunity to experience the space expansion they way it should be.
In the framework of what appeals ot the players in this issue, I would very much like to hear responses from the community concerning whether this dual-purpose option would appeal to everyone.
We can hope. I've thought about it some more and they could potentially tie the ability to do number 3 only to certain ships if desired. They could also potentially tie the ability to do 3 to thecharacter's pilot skill level. /shrug
wooo has anyone considered being able to buy faction wingmen, flying with you? hehe.
sure theyd blow up big time, but hey, that just defines the line between heroes ( us) and the wingmen ( lt. porkins)
Has anyone heard or seen anything that would give some indication even of which races are being CONSIDERED for the Jump to Lightspeed release?
I would very much like to know.
I would love to see Nym's race or the methane breathers, but I am going to be VERY pissed off if we get Lando's gill-faced buddy from Episode V or some damn palette variation on a human.
