It's not docked. It's either flying by or stationary near it but definately NOT docked.
But if you choose not to believe me.. I have a picture of me levitating a basketball.

Hey TH, can we put vendors in ships? I think that would be cool for the bar when I open up my buisness.
Yes, you can put furniture and anything else you could place in a player structure on the ground.
You can only launch one multiplayer ship at a time though and you can only have "stuff" in one multiplayer ship at a time. So If you are flying around in your YT-1300 and want to land and Head out on the Yacht, you will have to empty the first vehicle of all it's items. Otherwise players would load up both ships and it would lead to a lot of dead database space.
What! That really stinks! I want to have my luxury space-limo decorated, and my YT! Wouldn't it make sense to put an item limit on multi-passenger ships? Come on! It's bad enough that you can't upgrade the yacht....
Can we at least mod stuff like engines andboost engines on the yacht? And on a solution to how to make the yacht more useful and keep to your little rule on item storage on MP ships, how about... Making the yacht an exception to the rule? It would keep people from using all their mp vessels just for storage and make the yacht that much more useful.

I intend to consider myself a serious JTL player, and I intend to use it. It's a very simple concept you don't seem to understand: NOT EVERYONE IS INTENDING TO PLAY FOR COMBAT. My main guy is an Entertainer/Medic with no combat skills. I intend to go Privateer Pilot for the Medium Hutt Figther because I like ships that look cool, like this. If people want to fight, they can get a fighter, as it's a lot easier than solo playing the YT-1300.
Lastly: "noob ship"? Let's examine the facts. 1) This is only available to players who have subscribed for 6 months. 2) It cannot be destroyed, or even attacked. 3) Most noobs are going to be flying YT-1300s as soon they can get them, according to the many "what ship do you want" threads.
Your assumption that everyone who is a "serious player" is some sort of combat-obsessed tank-brain like yourself is laughable.
If I have a yacht and a YT-1300, and I deck out the yacht, the YT won't launch. That makes the yacht useless. Since it's non-combat, players WILL want furniture in it. If it's a database issue, let us launch one ship empty. As it is, no veteran will want to put anything in their yachts, ever.
