Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, you guys. I know this must get redundant for you, having to read this over and over again.
I think I have to accept that creating a system based on the movies, you know, the subject matter for the entire **edit**ing game wouldn't be plausible as a business decision. And that's what this is all about, in the end, isn't it? Business.

Well, they wanted a more in depth system, but couldn't incorporate it, so they did professions. They then dropped hints because people weren't getting through the professions as quickly as they had hoped.
As for who has Jedi... Once a system is knows, powergamers will ALWAYS complete it first. Holo made a post about this; if they based Jedi off of other criteria, then everyone could get it, but powergamers would get it that much faster. That doesn't mean that all Jedi are grinders, etc (although look at the trees - after a little tooling around, there's nothing to do but grind
). Just be happy we know what it takes to unlock, and hope that you won't have to master too much to get it
.
I would have been nice if there was some Jedi only content....
It's saddening that the jedi forum population is 80% holocron profession related, 15% complaining, 5% satisfied people (if that).
Most of the time, you can't satisfy one group (or profession)in this game without taking from another.
I give the devs credit. Ofcourse the system isn't perfect, and there's much room for improvement, but it's **edit** good, or else all of you who complain about jedi sucking wouldn't still be playing. I for one couldn't think of many better ways to give everyone an oppurtunity to get a FSCS, and/or a better way for it to take time to level jedi. With the current system, EVERYONE CAN GET A SLOT, but it takes much time and patience (except maybe for those SUPER LUCKY 2% that had to do 5 or 6 professions total and unlocked).
Jedi is time consuming. It has to be, or else you'll have a ton of jedi masters running around and that would be totally unacceptable to the story and total chaos. This isn't in the time of the republic. You could do something you really think is funa million times over, it will become boring quick. But, the fact is, there will always be powergamers who contribute a lot of time to gaming, and they have to account for those people, they have to make goals more difficult.
Enjoy the game, and may the force be with you.

I would much rather play for a year, knowing everything I did (or didn't do) somehow brought me along the path somehow... but I understand the inherent difficulty in programming something like this. The constant flow of information would really make server/client traffic horrendous, and no doubt kill the servers or severly limit the number ofplayers per server, but...
Simply grinding profs makes 99% of this game completely meaningless.

So, I feel your disappointment. I expected a little more of a true "Jedi" based system. SWG to me is like a really nicely wrapped package. For all appearances, it looks to contain something really nice... but instead, you find a CDEF. Sure, you can use the CDEF, but...
"If you will not join Us, Young SkyWalker, then you...will...DIE! But first, please change my hairstyle?"
Ok...first the theory. If the FSCS are tied to the account, then are different requirements generated for every toon, or just the first time you make one and then carried over to all others. For instance, I made a Medic on Bloodfin as my first character on the first day. I have since deleted him and have 4 others now. My theory is that all the requirements for all the toons are the same. The reason that each one gets different responses from a holo is that they each are closer to differentmasters. For instance one has more crafting XP so he gets Architect when he uses his holo, but the other has more combat XP so he gets Squad Leader first, even though the first will need SL as well, he was closer to Arch so that's what the holo gave him. He would get SL from his 2nd or 3rd holo and vice versa.
Ok, so why the question and why should you care. If this is true then maybe you don't need to master all the professions with one character. Maybe you can master Artisan with your Shadowfire toon and then master BH with the one you have on Ahazi and still get "credit" for it. The FSCS would just be generated on the server that mastered the last required profession.
How to test it: Anyone who has had their holo go silent and has not yetgot their FSCScould use one of their shiny new christmas holos on their toonfrom another server. If it's silent, then this theory is correct. If it gives you a profession, then it's not.
Any takers?
u know the deal guys ehhe, what should be thesecret profession
- silent after 3rd holo
mastered(in order):
marksman
