I should have been more clear. You can trade Astromechs (I think), but you cannot trade a flight computer once it has been initialized.
Any cheap ole 1-3k mass RE1 or RE2 reactor is plenty of power for any small non MPship. I prefer something re'd with over 10k energy. Just overload it with reactor overload 3. Thats all you need.
Overloads above 3 are no good. shield shunt 4 is good but thats not an overload. Grab a pre-programmed chip from a vendor or get an empty one and find a privateer to program it for you, then program your FC or droid with the program.
There's a lot of misinformation in this thread. I really suggest the Pilot forum FAQ and the link in my sig for guides to droid programs.

No - weapon overload 3 draws less power than it should, while providing more damage. Running WO3 will not cause your weapons to shut down. The damage is in line with what the OL should be, just not the power draw. Lots of pilots use WO3 because it lets them get away with smaller reactors.
The most typical culprit for shutting down systems is usually Engine Overload - those programs are real hogs. Again, check my sig for a good order of programs to run.

I use a reactor with 33k output that I'm using about half of. If I run WOL3 with Engine OL4 &CAP OL 4 it disables 2 out of my 3 guns and my missles. I can run WOL4 without any troubles tho.

Lol! I hear ya there! Who in their right mind put those in the game and said "Ohh look, I like that". ./DOH *rolleyes
The only way to fix it is to fly in to Deep Space, and then Hyperspace out again. (Thanks to Mich Banner - Chimaera Super Pilot - for that tidbit) This will automatically fix any and all problems with your ship.
Downgrade your Weapons Overload chip from 4 to 3, and you'll be fine.
