activision is not the publisher of GTA : san andreas. Take 2 interactive are.

i cant believe they picked activison as a pulisher anyway. they make substandard games and have release dates slippier than an oil slick. surely there had to be someone better, some publisher who actually cares about the UK. i dont hold the Devs responsible, they make the game, (and they made it good!) but SOEs marketing Dept and Activision are the resposible parties.

dont blame the devs for the delay, call ACTIVISION or SOE and complain how much you want but they wont care

Although you are right, we have a community manager and a community assistant manager that should deal with this exact problem. Saying that it is out of SOE's hands is not a good enough excuse. We want these community managers to find out WHY it was delayed and then tell us why it was delayed instead of deleting threads and giving us 2 word answers. Also I knew something like this would happen, SOE should of tied the purchase of the game into the main billing system.

We could just go into our account settings, click a button that says BUY JTL. get emailed a key and then entered that into the game to enable it. Whats so hard about that? your credit card would be billed, just like a normal monthly fee, people would get the game world wide at the exact same time and we wouldnt of been let down, yet again, by SOE.

Activision seem to publish most of the Star Wars Games, so the deal is probably with LucasArts rather than SOE...

Leana, you're right the servers are hosting the code, US and Euro alike... and that's the issue here. As you rightly point out, anybody with a JTL CD can activate and play. You seem to have missed the point, which is that...

I the UK the JTL CD does NOT go onsale until 5th November.

That's around 10 days AFTER it goes on sale in the US!

So as you say, anybody with a CD can play JTL on euro servers... which translates to any US players can play JTL on euro servers.

Begining to see why people from europe are a little peeved?

We're not CHOOSING not to play JTL until Nov 5th., that situation is forced on us.

This gives an unfair advantage to any US players who play on the Euro servers.. a 10 day headstart on developing their pilot chars or building up shipwright stocks.

Not a good move in an MMO, to have a server where some of the players have access to all of the features, and other don't but want access to those features.

The comment about some US stores not having JTL backs up what I was told by activision. Certainly nothing was said about not wanting to compete with GTA3 (and to be honest.. console Vs PC, totally different game... are these really so in competition?). I was told the UK release had been pushed back to an underestimate on demand, and a realisation that stock levels were not appropriate. The delay is to press more disks basically.

EDIT:
you're also right Leana about it's not SOE's fault... it's down to lucasarts and activision (who lucastarts have contracted to distribute the game in the UK). They messed up somewhere on stock levels... guess they didn't think this game would be so successful after all.. as they seem to have dramatically underestimated demand. Nice to see they have such faith in their own product

Again, I blame LucasArts for this. The EQ expansions can be downloaded and bought online. This is probably another way for good old George Lucus to line his pockets with Royalties of having the words "Star Wars" printed on the side of every box.

yup.. an online release would have avoided (or even at the last minute fixed) all these issues... and I can only guess it's lucasarts veto'ing that one... SOE obviously have no issue with it.

I bet they only announced it late because they knew Activision would have a hard time shifting stock with people in europe buying from elsewhere (and receiving their boxes on release date for the US).

Whatever the truth behind this we should have been informed well in advance regardless how this would have caused problems for the European distributor. There is no way on earth they just found out about this at the time of the announce.

Some consideration for customers and poor treatment/management is why these posts are popping up. We're told just to wait and deal with it but if this were any other service you can bet this sort of treatment would not be tolerated. There are no other SW MMO's on the net though so fans/players of that genre are basically stuck with what they are given and should say 'please and thank you' sitting quitely not making a fuss while thingslike this happen.

It's two or three days later and no word from those involved about what cause this delay. We would like to know. Be accountable to your customers please and prove you can do the honourable thing. You know a great number of us will sit and wait regardless and you'll get your money anyway but show that there is a little more to it than that. Or maybe there isn't?

Right, here's what the REAL annoying thing is,,,FORGET CD shipment dates !

A guildmate of mine, very kindly donated another guildy one of his keys. ( th eUS guildy has a couple of accounts and has thus bought the releative amount of JTLS for them. After hearing that we in the UK have been shafted up the Wrong 'Un with the CD's he in a noble gesture gave a cd key to one of our UK players ( who will in turn give him the key he eventually gets when CD turns up in UK. )

Matey has input that key, and LO and Behold, the gme patches,,,and he is now up and running, well into his shipwright grinding......

What does this mean ?

It means,,,,OI,,,,,DONT GIVE US EXCUSES ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS SHIPPING CD'S.

why didnt they give a CD Key by e-mail to everyone who has pre ordered,,,,,same as they did with beta. we dont even NEED the CD,,the launchpad adds the code for JTLS anyway !

how can they claim distribution probleems ? what, cant they e-mail people ?

Rant Over

SORT IT OUT SOE & Activison,,,or is that "Lack-of-Vision"

They stated it was going to be a "worldwide release on the same day"...roflmao yeah nice one SOE.

The other really funny one currently is the "its not SOE's fault, its all down to Activision"...hmm interesting. So off some of us go to have a work with Activision, and want to guess the response? well unlike some companies I can mention around here they do actually bother to discuss these things....and they come back stating :

"Unfortunately we are unable to help you with these queries regarding Jump to Lightspeed. We suggest that you contactSony or Lucas Arts. ThePR departement at the following email address: [email protected]"

(I've removed the name and email of the nice lady at Activision who was both quick to repond, and very helpful...unlike some).

Hmm, so off we run again...ok, I have to admit haven't had an official response yet back off Lucas Arts...but you can just see it coming can't you...."nothing to do with us, its all SOEs fault"...this game of pass the buck is utterly a farse of the highest magnitude.

To be totally honest I now couldnt give a gnorts backside about this entire thing. This utter disgraceful way in which the pre-orders, the launch over here, and the US launch was handled is something that isn't expects from any company, let alone one with so much MMOG supposed experience that SOE has. I went and told my pre-order where they can stick it now, along with my subscription to this (after well over a full year this has finally pushed me over the edge).
