They are slowing down in the 90-180deg turns. At first I would blow by them trying to keep up with them. Now the problem is that the 'M' function will not always work when they slow down, stop, and accellerate again. The AI also appears to me to be doing "sliding" maneuvers which we can't do. One last thing is that they stillhave a 100% accuracy in shooting at you.

The only thing retarded about the current AI is how all ships seem to enjoy making 90-180 degree turns at full speed with no ill effects. I was chasing an awing and it did a complete u-turn to shoot me; I wasn't able to catch up as it turned either...it was pretty instantaneous.

a-wings dont need to decelerate to turn, as a matter of fact they turn faster at full speed.

the thrust vectoring of their emgimes gives them this hyper manuevability.

the behaviour you describe is exactly what its like to fly one.

"Yeah, but if they're doing proper flying, aren't they supposed to regroup their formation AFTER killing the guy that forced them to break it in the first place?"

If they are working as true lead and wingman, there are instances where they should keep a wide formation throughout the fight. The leader does the killing and the wingman attacks anyone that tries to engage the leader. The circumstances dictate whether this is a viable tactic or not. It's not something that is easy to pull off even for human players. Sticking in a tight formation throughout a fight often just reduces your enemy's number of engagement objects down to one.

The night before the publish. my roomy and i had alot of fun chasing after all the enemies, taking out some Nova's and just really pumping up some star wars music. the feeling was outstanding. it felt like the game had improved beyond my complaints in Space.
The Ai was great, it atatcked like AI should. Then tried to outrun us and come back for its attack.! Whoo Ha!
But then...
After the publish the enemies aint so fun no more. Every single battle with them since has been "thrust into battle, nope slow down, oh there he goes, oh wait no, hes turning this way and that. Okay now hes taking off, the chase! yay!....nope wait there he goes again...funny, should be matching his speed or faster , wait hes making a turn at thsi speed?
[ is talking about even tier 1's ]
Tier 4's ...they come at you firing every shot they can, you go to chase them, they fly in circles? Thats all they do...is fly in circles.
Whats up with that?
Please Devs. change it back.

I just don't like the starting and stopping they do now. I have an A-Wing and I would really like more high speed chases. Maybe that comes at different tiers, I don't know.

I just know that I was getting tired of going 1000 and dropping to 200 and so on.

One of the coolest things is when the enemies fly in formation, are they still sticking to formations?

I think they should try to regroup when you break up the initial formation.

Higher tiers do indeed give spinning and turning high-speed chases. But, if the AI notices that you stayed on their tail the whole time, they'll slam on the brakes to try to get you to pass them to get on your tail.

A human player would do this, so the AI should, too.

I guess you're right.

What about the formations?

Have the enemies been keeping formation?

They break formation to engage, but in groups. For example, when doing a Black Sun duty mission, 3 fighters and 2 bombers come at you. The Fighters stick together and go one way, and the bombers stick together, trying to get around you to bomb your backside while you're busy withthe fighters.

But, we were in a group, so they turned to space dust to quickly to see what they do after that.

Stick with it, you will like it in the end. Being on TC I have had longer to get used to it, I have to say I love the AI now. Proper dogfighting, the way it should be. Lots of throttle control needed, the AI now really hates it when you get on their six.

I still wish they would form-up again after they get split up.

There is nothing more star warsey than seeing a group of ties flying past you in formation.
