Don't pay any attention to people who say JtL is easy and that they soloed it in a week or whatever. These people are exagerating to a degree and they are usually twitchy power gamers that are all hopped up on caffine, sugar, and/or ritalin. Let them be bored so they will go away and leave us normal people alone.
Play the game the way you want to play. If you feel like some space adventure, go have fun. If you worry less about others, you'll find yourself enjoying it more. And if you do get stuck on a mission, just go to a populated star port and serach or ask for help. Pilots like me are always glad to help. I don't judge people and I don't think anyone is a noob if they are having trouble on a mission.
The missions in JtL are all over the placekind oflike on the ground. Some missions may be easier for some people than others ased on your abilities and ship components. And some missionsmay be in the wrong place for some Tiers. You just have to dothe best you can do by trial and error. There are so many variables that it was probably hard for the DEVs to line it all together right from the get-go. Anyways, we know how thedev flow goes, release it then fix it later.
Lately, it's been quite weird. All of the ships I've disabled seem to pick a spot and float over to it, so after disabling 6 ships, they'll all be huddled together around one point as if they're all stuck in some harmless disabled ship-sucking black hole. Maybe this is some new device the devs programmed to make destroying disabled ships easier? Whatever the cause, the benefit is that you don't have to go anywhere to clean up, in fact you hardly have to move your cursor because they're packed together like sardines about to be put through the blender that is your ship cannons.
This happens to me all the time disabled ships all seem to huddle together waiting for the end to come
As mentioned above with the invulnerability bug, once your target is disabled you should be moving onto a new active target,if it's disabled ignore it, it isnt a threat, once the immediate threats are taking care of you'll have plenty of time to go back and pick off these ships later and since you'll be retargeting them the invul bug won't effect them.

/disable and /iffscramble are definently your friend! Especially when you need to dock with a ship while yer getting aggroed. I also found countermeasures to be usefull initially, but once yer guns are powerful enough the only defense you need is a killer offense.
But getting master pilot in a week isnt really that hard, you just have to dedicate some time to it is all. It just depends on your play style I think. Although it took me just over a week to master privateer, I did the bulk of it in 4 days (2 weekday evenings and then a big chunk on one weekend all at once. I had wingmen on 3 of my teir 4 missions and the teir 4 exit mission and then grouped up with like 6 folks for the corvette (which took some time to get everyone organized and together). The only part that took any real time was generating the xp for the teir 4 boxes which i camped a static spawn for, but i hear doing teir 4 duty missions is good for this as well.

Also with the 4 mil xp required in tier 4 it is sooo helpful to have a friend or two with you with the way the group xp works
I have helped lots of rebs and privateers through tier 4, and I personally think anyone that says can solo all 4 and not be a master already is just exaggerating.
I solo'ed tier 3 privateer with a lot of deaths on the exit mission but that was early on and there was no one really to help me. Fortunately when I hit tier 4 I found a few people on tier 3, I helped them and we all did tier 4 together.

Thanks for all the great tips and suggestions folks, they've really come in handy. Just as an aside, a friend and I just spent about an hour at a fast spawn of tier 3 ships, absolutely zero threat or difficulty, and we each pulled in about 300k xp!!! I guess grouping for the grind is the way to go after all.

if you are doing the pilot tree your first time, then solo'ing tier4 by yourself will be damn hard. i got all the way to the tier4 exit before i asked for help, but that was before knowing about droid commands, with crappy parts, and without anywhere near the experience i have now (not game xp, but your skill in flying and tactics you use).
knowing what i know now, i could easily solo every mission up to and including the corvette as a 4333 pilot for reb/imp and a 2322 as a freelance.
the three most important things are your seat/flightstick interface (aka YOU), your droid commands (must have engine ol3 weap ol3 cap o3 and cap-to-shield-shunt-3, and also reactor ol3-4 if you need it), and your ship loadout. get some good lvl7-8 guns, crafted quickshot blasters are decent and easy to come by, but looted can be better and re'ed are great. also get a nice crafted mkIV shield with around 1800 f/b and a 12 recharge. the engine should be your 79 speed reward, get it re'ed as soon as possible. also a nice crafted mkII booster can get over 35 speed and will get you out of trouble should you bite off more than you can chew.
as a rebel at tier4 you should be flying either a longprobe or an awing. imps should go tie-adv. freelance, take the dune or the rhik.
EDIT: and for xp do duty missions, if you do a full tier4 destroy duty you will get 1mil xp. with my xwing that has 2 lvl7 guns and a lvl8 (the lvl7s are the imp reward re'd and the lvl8 the reb reward re'd) i can crank one out in about 45min, you should be able to do it in about an hour and a half if you are using crafted guns and have wepaon overload 3.

Yep, its those hardcore, eyesore, and bound to get a big headache by the time the servers reset 24/7 ppl. that finish so quickly. I agree, tier 4 missions are kinda hard.

Day 1: 5 hours, finish tier 3
Day 2: 3 hours, reach 4/4/3/3
Day 3: 2 hours, reach 4/4/4/4
Day 4: 1 hour, take out 30 enemy ships in kessel
Day 5: Prepared a group, and took out corvette
5 days to ace, rebel btw, not 24/7. Just do the tier 4 "take out enemy patrols" mission. Its a bit hard, but u can easily get 500k xp doing the whole thing.

I finished freelancer SA in about a week only playing for about 2 hours a day. But for me I was a rebel ace before hand and got double XP per kill. Also I had been playing for a while and understood what the AI was doing and new all the little tricks by then. The first time I got Ace it took me about 3 weeks. The longer and more you play the better you get.

Had a quick questions then. I just got JTL this week and I'm only 1-1-1-0 rebel pilot. I'm still using the starter ship Z95. I can get an Y-Wing now but, didn't know if I should wait or not. Any advice?
Also where are you guysgetting your missions? I only get the same duty missions from my rebel trainer. Is thatall you do just doing the same duty missions?
Thanks!

I'd wait for the longprobe better ship in my humble opinion unless you have someone who wants to man the y wing turret for you.If you outfit the Z with decent gear can easily last you till you get your X if youd rather go that route.
