I'll post 2 pictures later today showing you the difference between bloom and no bloom on an ATI 9800 pro with 128MB on my YT.

My Geforce4 Ti 4600 has the bloom option greyed out but my new Geforce6 now is set to make my YT-1300 engine glow very nicely. Too bad there isn't a slider to control intensity, it could use a little more. On the downside, the bloom also makes the structure placement overhead view graphics glow, not a gamestopper but kind of distracting.

I'm guessing the engine glow is possibly a pixel shader issue..

the Bloom option is only available using 2.0 Pixel shaders (not sure which cards support and don't support it)

anyways to force a pixel shader run the Game Options on the launch pad and goto

Graphics Tab..

it should say Pixel Shader and under it the default is set to Optimal..

you can select an override from the drop down box and force a specific pixel shader..

beware though, i have no idea what would happen if you forced 2.0 on a card that doesn't support it..

OK, I enabled bloom, and now everything glowslol, including those blue lines you see when entering hyperspace and some of the weapon beams.

while my winge about the YT, VT and some other ships engine glow stand, id like to congratulate the devs on a bloody amazing engine glow on the ISD in deepspace

I went to check it out last night and its spot on!!! I just wish the engines on all the playable ships, transports and gunboats where that impressive.

Bloom turns off my Antialiasing. Anyone else have this problem?

I can't stand playing the game without AA.

I have noticed something like this on my awing. If I change out my booster, sometime i will get no graphical represention of this booster, with no glow when i activate it. Then I change to a different booster, It look's like this tube thingie sticking out of the back of my ship and a nice glow when I hit booster.

That is because you can physicaly see models of booster on your ship, and some you can't. And different parts look different on your ship.
