So long as it is either 1) consentual or 2) only usable against NPC ships, I'd encourage this.

also, you know when you scan a freighter and it says something about there being a weapons shipment on board? well when you disable that thing and dock with it i think we should get the cargo listed tranfered to our loot box.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Lately I've been inspecting every freighter I come across, and some of them have really made me wish that I could, ah, peruse their cargo.

Be careful here, as what you seem to be proposing would create a situation where Pilots also need to have significant Combat capabilities in order to fully take part in standard space content. I think Crafters have been getting dumped on enough recently to not need to make JtL content exclusive, too.

yes, but being a pirate is about boarding ships and taking them over, in fact pirates never where, and never will be skilled naval tacticians. they are thieves and the best way to rob people in this situation is to board their ship and take it over. if crafters want to get involved in this kind of business then they should be the pilots that dissable the ships in the first place and let the boarding party be the combat people they have brought along specifcally for that purpose. that way everyone gets a chance to participate in it.

Exactlly... Treena hit it on the head here. I believe this idea would fly more if it were NPCs.
But also Player based ships that interact with eachother should be able to board eachother but consentual.

It really would a dream come true, either with raiding parties or just docking to loot the cargos of NPC ships. Or even just to be able to dock with another player ship, and rp it out from there.

they even mention that a lambda shuttle was captured in ROTJ
certain size ships should be immune to jacking (fighters, bombers, etc)
boarding activities could also be used to deliver crew to a ship after it's launched
when i first wrote it what i had in mind was disabling a medium to large class ship (i.e. freighters, shuttle, npc MPS)
with freighters the crew is more likely than not NOT going to be able to fight so stealing their cargos would be fairly easy
jacking a decimator/yt/nova would be that much harder as they ARE might end vessels
jacking a vette... a vette is the smallest capitol class ship in any military there for taking it would be almost impossible.
here's how one such raid could go.
fighter support disables the vette
troop ship moves in and blasts off an escape pod
pilot moves the ship into position and docks
troops debarks and swarm the vette. during this time the engineers on the vette would be trying to get the reactor and guns up, if they do the guns could simply blast the invading ship into oblivion and the invaders now have no choice but take the vette, if they loose, the vette jumps and escapes

Hijacking a fighter is easy. Simply disable the thing and blast a hole in the cockpit. Instant corpse.Vette capture missions would be fun, though.

and docking with space stations and exiting your ship via dock to actually work on it or pick up passengers without having to land and load all the time.

ok, if you say so. i might find myself on the terms then as i'm all for the piracy.
now there is a problem then, if i get involved in piracy and find my mission on the terms (as you suggest) can i kill myself to collect the money?
