yeah, you heard me, i'm tired of seeing a pretty ship sitting out there and not beig able to take it as mine

i want to steal gunboats, trasports, freighters, everything. let us sell them for creds

heck let us sicc droids on them and get payed for it, we pay for a ship jacker droid, disable a ship, fire a droid at it, and escort it out system...

depending on the ship we jack give us a paycheck for it...

So, Fenrir, when you go cruising across the Corellian Sector with 4 Heavy Freighters, 3 TIE Bombers, and a VT Decimator in formation behind you we'll know you had a busy night?

just one thing, you need the uber pirate costume, maybe a droid leg and eye, some kind of BE creature that looks like a parrot, and you need to have the jolly roger somewhere (maybe a nice banner or something).

Might be worth it if they had instanced interiors for boarding actions. But escorting missions are dull enough with periodic attackers. This would be essentially an escorting mission, after you took the ship,with few or no attackers?


From a roleplay perspective you can think of the credits you find and the parts you sell as prize money for selling ships you pretend to have captured instead of destroyed. Maybe down the road with the GCW active in space and boarding actions you could capture POB NPC ships and then trade them to friendly factional stations for big FP rewards. This would add commensurate risk as you'd be a slow moving target for hostile player pilots. And even if nothing happened the whole trip you'd certainly be on the edge of your seat worrying that they might!


Otherwise could be a major yawnfest.

I wouldn't mind jacking NPC ships temporarily but stealing player ships is absurd. Players spend A LOT of time aquiring ships and it makes no sense to let another player hijack it and poof it's gone.

Sorry but I vote no.

Good idea: Being able to board [ed- large] NPC ships.

Bad idea: Being able to board PC ships [ed- of any size].


Good idea: Being able to steal credits, cargo, and/or components from NPC ships.

Bad idea: Being able to steal the whole ship; unless you're flying a capital ship with a hangar, how do you propose to pilot both? Slaving the captured ship doesn't happen very often in the EU (which leads me to speculate that it's rather complicated and involved to get it right), and... droids to pilot the captured ship? I know I haven't followed newer Clone Wars-era material very closely, but I don't recall that aspect of space. Besides, historically speaking, pirates tended only to capture warships, and even then they could get away with it because sailing vessels have large crews; starfighters, in general, do not.


Good idea: Factional standing in space, preferably separate from ground, at least up to a point. I don't know about you guys, but I'm amazed that Jabba's thugs don't come after me when I land on Tattooine, or why Lady Valarian's people don't shower me in credits (I kill short amounts of free time by offing Hutt pirates in Corellian space).

Bad idea: Eh, I don't have one here. You pretty much need NPC reputation in space if piracy is going to be fun.


Final tally: Good idea. Agree.

To make sure no players get made at involuntery boarding, just give player ships a little window that pops up "EvilPirate is attempting to dock. Accept? Yes No'


That way we can rp piracy. Or just give us the option to dock with frieghters and actually get an item or resource or whever they were carrying. Even if its a cargo hold full of bright pink and olive green warm hats, I'd be thrilled to lift it.

I would like to add to this... make it so you CAN board player ships after disabling all weps, reactors, and engines. When boarded all people are dumped out of turret/pilot/co-pilot seats and an alarm goes off... you can head to escape pods or fight them. If you fight and win the boarding ship is then boardable for five minutes, then it can undock, and if you lose you lose faction and enemy gets a nice fat faction bonus,then your ship is destroyed. if you win you can board enemy ship and reverse the process. If you abandon ship you lose 1/4 faction u normally would and they gain 1/4 faction they normally would. One last option (hold on), if you successfully repel all boarders, you can then fix reactor and turret and blow them before they can undock. Also make it so ships can have internal defenses, kinda like turrets but much weaker, but still very effective. If you die while boarding you are sent back to own ship with wounds and loss of buffs and cant board ship again until your ship loses or wins; you can still defend your own ship.

If they allowed MP ship boarding then I should be allowed to vent the ship's atmosphere and suffocate the invaders. They would have roughly a minute or so to get a slicer to reverse the process. As for NPC MP ships, it would be awesome to be able to steal those. There are so many transports and such that I'd love to be able to fly. One in particular is that transport in the last Yavin Station mission.

Are you advocting the theft of the boarded ship, or merely it's destruction, such as would happen if a dogfight were lost?

The former is a patently bad idea. The latter might be workable between MP ships (I see little reason to allow the boarding of fighters; the idea is simply too impracticle in reality to be anything but farcical in the game).

I might just need to renege on my original stance.
