As I got JTL only 2 days ago....yes I am Tier 1 (1,1,0,0) and my guildmate is Tier 1 also (0,0,0,0) !

And diverent dimensions is NOT true!!

As I have been attacked by Tier 2 NPC's all the time since I launched for the first time!

Further at the Space Station I see High Level players in X-Wings, TIE interceptor's, etc docking!!

So I don't think so that there are different dimensions at all?? would be strange too tho!! why would you have a NOOB space dimension and a Regular Space Dimension??

It has no positive effect at all ...as:

1. Mission NPC's are only vulnirable for Mission Player!

2. PvP is only possible in Space zones NOT accessable by Novice Players!

And why would you only be able to group when you are at least in Tier 2 ??

If not doing missions ...but just want to fly for fun with eachother look up some Non-Mission NPC's for loot together...you should be able to group...regardless what skill you have!!

greetz

Again, until you train your first box in any of the tier 1 you are in a different instance of space so until you're out of 0,0,0,0 you will be in a different space. Once you hit 1 in anything 1.0.0.0 or 0.1.0.0 or 0.0.1.0 or 0.0.0.1 you will be in a different space... You are in real space your friend is in instanced space.

There is a different instance of space for those that have not completed their first skill box in the first tier. This does not mean you won't find tier 2 ships or anything different in terms of looks or NPC's ... it just means that you WILL NOT find any friends that have already completed their first skill box in tier 1 as they will be in the main instance of space. In beta they were having problems with full space zones (specifically the starting zones, naboo, corellia and tatooine) ... people tried to hyperspace in and were given a message saying that the zones were too full and the hyperspace failed. One of the solutions that was implemented was to create a separate instance of space for those doing their first set of missions. I guarantee you 100% that there is a different instance, I saw the dev posts, I have seen it in the game, I was there when they put it in.

As for grouping, if you have both finished your first skill box, then there should be no problem. I have been grouping fine, using findfriend (note that the findfriend waypoint does not move if your friend is moving, you may have to keep updating and re-typing findfriend to update to their new location) ... you will note there are also arrows in your group list next to each name as long as you are in range. Another tip would be to all hyperspace to the same point, or rendezvous at a known friendly space station, that way you can find each other and go off from there.

Can someone please explain how /findfriend works? What does it really do?

findfriend : if you have someone on your friend list and they also have you on their friend list, findfriend will create a waypoint for you pointing you to their location (/findfriend name). If they are on another planet or a different space sector, you will need to look at your datapad to see where they are, otherwise you will see the waypoint displayed in your waypoint monitor.

Yeah its a royal pain.

I did find a good use for /findfriend finally. In space. Just add each other to your list, and you're set.

It sounds like a pilot doing the tier one missions is trying to group with a pilot above tier one, read the new advanced guide on the main website for all the details of piloting, but in brief.
Until you hit 1/1/1/1 you launch into an instance of space that only has other low level pilots and their missions in it, there is a dev post about somewhere about why this is the case. Once you reach 1/1/1/1 you join everyone else in real space.
This makes your initial experiance safer and ensures that all new players can enter space.

Well, I didn't find this to be true. A lot of us grouped last night and one was tier 3, I was tier 2 along with a couple others, we had some tier 1's and 2 players who's skills were 0000. We all blasted off in coronet and all were in the same space. It was a complete and utter newbie zone so I think maybe we all got put in the noob instance instead of putting the noobs in real space.

My point is, instanced or not, we all appeared in the same space even though we were all varying levels.

You either found a bug or are mistaken in that 2 players were 0000. They may have had one trainied skill. If is is a bug you need to /bug it. Right now all 0000 pilots are supposed to be in a seperate, instanced zone and anyone above it shouldn't be able to go there.

It may have been a bug. Definitely 2 members had just started and got their starter ship with no trained skills at all, not even any xp gained yet. One of those bought the real chassis and was able to hyperspace but the other couldn't hyper so we stayed in corellian space for a while. One strange thing though, the fourth person to blast off used a ship with a tailgunner position and it took one of the noobs up with them by mistake.

What I couldn't tell was if we were all put into the noob instance or real space. But definitely we were all there and had a wide range of Tier pilots and skills from 0000 to 4433.

I did have a couple things to add to the wish list though:
For the group ham listing, would like to see distance displayed to go with the direction indicator. Also I would like to see the formation thing work. Not sure if it is a skill you earn at higher levels or not, but when you click the "game made" formation button, it doesn't recognize the command.

.....

I so totally agree. Knowing that my wingman is behind me is nice. Knowing that he is 200m behind me and closing...priceless.

Why ??? Seriously I can't see any way that its a pain, it all works fine, as long as you know how to work it.

Errr, JTL is Publish 11 ... if you look at the files being downloaded when you patch you will notice the revision numbers. As for bugs, yes there are some, in JTL and in the ground game, however I have yet to see any specific ones identified in this thread. The combat revamp has been announced and scheduled and it is possible to register for the beta, so you cannot say this is not being worked on. As for Hoth, I never saw an official post ever saying it was going to be in, and even if there was, things discussed in design stages are subject to change by release, it happens. There is only ever a finite amount of time and sometimes some things have to give.
