Last night I tried to group for the first time with some guildmembers to do some hunting / looting in Space!

We launched from the the same spaceport into space! Now here comes our experience:

- It was impossible to find eachother ...cycling to friendly player targets didn't pop-up my mate I wanted to group with!

- Fiendfriend did not work ...you get the waypoint and the famous glowing line in Space too...but nobody there! His engine was off!! He didn't move at all!

- he gave me his waypoint ...I flew to the exact waypoint and he was just not there either! He told me he was there exactly...but we couldn't see eachother!!

Next attempt was to land our Ships and group on the ground and then launch back into space!!

- We were both near the Space Station ...but as I was groupleader...I got a Out of Reach indication in my grouplist!! When I tried to toggle to him (CTRL+2 ) ...It didnt work either!! I could only target myself!!

As it was again EXTREME LAGGY on the Eclipse server last night...we tought that might have been the problem! So we both disconnected and startup our game again ....we did the same procedures...just won't work!!!

CONCLUSION: Grouping in Space is one frustrating experience at the moment as it just doesn't work at all!!

I know some people have done Tier4 group missions .....maybe that works ....but just meeting eachother and grouping in Space is NOT possible

Anyone else experiencing this also??

If one of you was Tier1, then you wouldn't find each other, as tier 1 space is intanced seperately to the rest of JTL.

Try again when you are at the same Tier, or at least both above Tier 1.

If neither of you is Tier 1, then /bug it in game

If any one of you is a Novice Pilot then that person is in a different dimension, of sorts. Once they train in something they will go to the regular dimension. This happened with myself and my friends. Just have him or yourself do missions really quick, then you can see each other and fly together.

I grouped last night for the first time with a buncha guildies. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. Waypoints via /findfriend worked well. Finding them via radar worked well cause you just look for the green blips. Also they remained "semi-targetted" at all times cause they had a green box around them so they were easy to spot when they were in front of me.

I did have a couple things to add to the wish list though:
For the group ham listing, would like to see distance displayed to go with the direction indicator. Also I would like to see the formation thing work. Not sure if it is a skill you earn at higher levels or not, but when you click the "game made" formation button, it doesn't recognize the command.

In all though, grouping in space went beyond my expectations. Good job guys.

It sounds like a pilot doing the tier one missions is trying to group with a pilot above tier one, read the new advanced guide on the main website for all the details of piloting, but in brief.

Until you hit 1/1/1/1 you launch into an instance of space that only has other low level pilots and their missions in it, there is a dev post about somewhere about why this is the case. Once you reach 1/1/1/1 you join everyone else in real space.

This makes your initial experiance safer and ensures that all new players can enter space.

On Kauri we find that no matter what tier you are above Novice box if you can't find each other Hyper out to a different System and meet at that point with the leader going first..this resolves most of our Instance issues..and be sure to wait till every one is loaded in space before doing so..If you do have a Novice make sure he is a gunner(this will probably be a fine art, mastered by none).

Actually, the novice pilot just has to finish the mission with the ace pilot. Once they can train their first box they are in regular space and can do duty missions. My guildmates and I take our fledgling pilots on teir 2 and 3 duty missions to get them through tier 1 much quicker as there is more expereince in those duty missions then the duty missions in tier 1. Tested this many times it's a fact.

That's wierd. I have been playing since it came out and haven't really had a problem with grouping up. Now they have improved the "find you group member" abilities since JTL was launched, but it has never been a real problem. I'm on Tempest, so there maybe some differences, but I don't think they would be that bad. The past 2 nights I have done missions with friends and except for us missing a "group message" letting us know we have a new wp to go to, we didn't have any problems. Findfriend worked fine, the little white arrow besides group member's names worked (unless they were out of range), and toggling through the group worked also (as long as they were in range).

I don't know what to tell you on fixing your group problems (sorry), but I believe they are slowly adding (making it easier) stuff to be able to group easier and more affectively.

Well, that explains why space was so lag free at novice and now that im 1111 its laggy as hell.

Well, I didn't find this to be true. A lot of us grouped last night and one was tier 3, I was tier 2 along with a couple others, we had some tier 1's and 2 players who's skills were 0000. We all blasted off in coronet and all were in the same space. It was a complete and utter newbie zone so I think maybe we all got put in the noob instance instead of putting the noobs in real space.

My point is, instanced or not, we all appeared in the same space even though we were all varying levels.

You either found a bug or are mistaken in that 2 players were 0000. They may have had one trainied skill. If is is a bug you need to /bug it. Right now all 0000 pilots are supposed to be in a seperate, instanced zone and anyone above it shouldn't be able to go there.

As I got JTL only 2 days ago....yes I am Tier 1 (1,1,0,0) and my guildmate is Tier 1 also (0,0,0,0) !

And diverent dimensions is NOT true!!

As I have been attacked by Tier 2 NPC's all the time since I launched for the first time!

Further at the Space Station I see High Level players in X-Wings, TIE interceptor's, etc docking!!

So I don't think so that there are different dimensions at all?? would be strange too tho!! why would you have a NOOB space dimension and a Regular Space Dimension??

It has no positive effect at all ...as:

1. Mission NPC's are only vulnirable for Mission Player!

2. PvP is only possible in Space zones NOT accessable by Novice Players!

And why would you only be able to group when you are at least in Tier 2 ??

If not doing missions ...but just want to fly for fun with eachother look up some Non-Mission NPC's for loot together...you should be able to group...regardless what skill you have!!
