Thread: Don't get your hopes up for POB ships. The new POB Only components in ROTW are terrible...

Ok, so then are these new components going to be Craftable only? Or are we going to see some looted items with these stats? If that's the then that might suggest why the devs kept hte numbers or stats down a little. Maybe i'm reaching a little lol.

Well, the first testers have started crafting the new "POB Only" components that are a part of ROTW. When news of these components first leaked, a lot of us were quite excited that POB ships were finally going to be made viable. Sadly, that's not the case, by a long shot. The stats on the new components, even when crafted with high quality resourses, are terrible. The new "Elite" guns are no better than the Level8 reward gun, and are easily outmatched by the level 10 guns that most serious POB pilots are using right now. The new "Elite" shields are only 2700 front/back protection, which is only about 5% better than the level 8 reward shield that everyone gets. Not to mention that RE'd level 10 shields can already surpass 2700 if you're patient. The new "Elite" capacitor is about the same as a decent RE'd level 4 or level 6 capacitor, and the new "Mining Ship" capacitor is about the same as a decent RE'd level 8 cap. The only two decent "POB Only" components are the new Engine andthe new Booster. The new engine can hit 115 speed, though it still has terrible PYR stats, and the new Booster is 65 Speed. Apparently all of these new "POB Only" components are about 250k in mass, so you won't be seeing any of them on fighters. About all these new components will be good for is helping out complete noobs who didn't save any of their loot and quest rewards while working up to ace.

If I can'tpump out some good elite parts, then my Nova will be permanently deeded and replaced with the ARC 170. I'll move the furnishings to my recent Sorosub Yacht. I just hit 180 days.

POB is the technical term used for the Mult-player ships that have interiors that you can walk around in. I always thought POB stood for player on board but i bet im wrong

Like others have said, this is a test and the stats may be raised. Perhaps even the space mining resources will put better stats onto the components.
But if they stay as they are now... they'll just become useless. These components need to be atleast twice as good as the components for starfighters. Give the lasers 5-6k damage, shields 50k, capactior 45k, ect. MP ships should be feared for a lone fighter, or even a group of fighters. MP ships should be able to go out into space and take a beating, while being able to dish out a beating.
It's sad to see the Devs still aren't smart enough to realize this.

Still, though, has anyone tested out the railgun? I've been curious as to what that's like...

Check the vendors via the market with search text "YT-1300" and you'll find the 5mil mass ships. They are produced all the time still.


I just made a YT-1300 chassis with 5m mass yesterday, so they're still being made. If you have a 500k mass ship or if you're selling them...ditch it.

I still always thought they should give MP ships Dual Reactors, Shield Generators, an possible even Multiple Armor layers. This would finally make them viable in Space Combat. You would still be sacrificing 3 possible Fighters to have a single fully operational MP Ship though so it balances out. The only issue I could see coming from this would be it might be too powerful in PvE as people would exploit it for easy xp more than now. To which the solution would probably be requiring Ace Pilot to man the turrets. Though even then its not really that big of a deal if people advance quickly with help from friends in my opinion.

You raised a point in JTL pvp that extreemly bugs me. I know I'm going off track but, I got to get it off my chest. Why do the dev team have to make JTL pvp encouters first shot wins fight and it's over even before its started is beyond me ? The aim of the CU for the ground game is about making the fights longer lasting. Why are they not exstending this to the space game? It will make for much better gameplay if you could at least have a chance to counter an attack if somebody gets the jump on you and let fun dog fights ensue. First to land a shot wins in most cases is lame gameplay period. It's effectively limiting any chance for players to win based on twitch skill alone which is what JTL PVP was meant to be about.

I was under the impression all POB ships were supposed to have only 500k mass. If the 5 million ones are still being made though then it does make sense these components weight 250k each.


To the person who said they just made a5 million YT-1300, or anyone who knows, what did you do differently to get a 5 million one over a 500k one?
