I agree that this was implemented poorly and rashly.
If they were ready to give us one MP ship without costing one lot, why not simply keep this and require an owner to give up one lot if they wanted a SECOND MP ship decorated.
But no, the baby was thrown out with the bathwater on this one.
I'll tell you how it got borked. A few toadies said "Sure, yeah, make MP ships cost one lot, that's fine" and the devs took this and ran with it.

Couple points. I do see what they were doing, I'm already using my yacht to store excess looted components. No one wants to see MP Ships turned into extra backpacks. OTOH, I'm not convinced that lots are really the right solution for item control.
Given how many thousands of items crafters can store in vendors for effectively no lot cost, and the current size of the server populations, and that they STILL haven't wiped any old characters, I'm not convinced that the db is as bursting at the seams as some people keep saying.
IMO I'd rather have a hard cap on item ownership than this silly "this is my armor house, and this is my weapon house, and these are my 3 loot houses..." I'd much prefer that, especially since it'd let me decorate the yacht as much as it truly deserves it.

They gave people what they wanted and you telling me they we wrong in doing this?
People where upset that they could only have one mult-pass ship, so soe fixs this by making it so that you use one lot, how is this a bad thing.

Look at it from the bright side: The more days the UK release is postponed, the less bugs you will be met by when you install JTL. Or something...

I feel its a goofy setup and counter productive!! What is a reward worth by being a veteran and then having to buy the expansion and then be penalized when you want to use it with your ground game which we have already fully supported forever now!! I am not interested in the JTL for flying the ships and rps, I just wanted to be able to fly around in my reward ship and have some fun with it.
I have 4 accounts so its not that I don't have the lots but the one char I bought the expansion for does not have the lot available, can I rearrange yes, but should I have to NO!! this is supposed to be a reward not a detriment, they could have done better by only allowing one ship, the reward one for free, after that then you can charge me a lot. Actually I would never place too much in my ship until it has proven itself stable!!

nobody is forcing you to use this ship. its a reward. take it or leave it. You can't do anything with it except fly around. It's unattackable and you can't attack with it. Its a reward, it comes with its limitations and downsides.
The point is its a reward, as you and I have stated multiple times. The reward should be to our benefit not to our detriment. Besides no one ever told me that using ships in JTL was going to affect ground game lots, that were divided up and only given 10 to each character because that is a good amount based on the AMOUNT of BUILDABLE SPACE in the GROUND GAME.
Lots where decided back in the BETA test to allow players to have two multi-player ships and be able to keep both decorated. Before, you could only have one decorated and if you wanted to use the other, you'd have to take all the decorations out of the first.
I much prefer the way of the lots, that way I can have to ships and have them both be decorated. Sure, it hurts to lose a lot, but it's a worthy loss in my oppinion.

7 of course... Thinking that it would make a nice PA hall.
But that brings up my point, at the time they decided on this in beta they also lowered all PA hall lot requirements to 7. IMHO that was needed anyhow, but it was reasonable to time it in accorcance with this extra lot usage.
