Thread: Newbie questions
1) Special moves
I know that commandos' launcer pistols can use the pistoleer special moves. Does this happens to other weapons, like for example acid rifle using rifleman moves?
2) Abilities
Having for example +10 pistol accuracy, will improve my aiming with my launcher pistol, or is it affected by "heavy weapons accuracy"? Maybe both?
What about other weapons? will a +5 rifle aiming help me with an acid rifle?
Thank you
As it stands right now the only mods you can get to affect your HW are either in the commando tree or in the pistoleer tree. You get 0 benefit from having carbine specialist or rifle specialist.
Have they changed this on the upcoming patch???? That I can't answer for you truthfully or accurately. Time will tell on this, but from what we have been told so far that aspect will remain the same and the only effect the patch will really have is reguarding commando special moves and some cert problems.
I finally made it up to CH today (yeah) and went out and trained to baby cu pas (not sure if the spellings right - birds). I've trained them and fed them (a few times). Now what do I do to make them grow? They are still way to young to kill (or even hurt) anything. (Please let me know if there is a guide for this.)
I've also looked at several messages on this board, and several talk about "levels". How can you tell what level a creature is? Heck, how can you tell what level you are?
Thanks in advance for your help.
All though it was promised early in the game's development that playing with your pet would make it grow faster they didn't seem to be able to implement that plan. As it stands now, the rate at which your pets grows is entirely random and varies from pet to pet. All we know for sure is that there's a 12 hour (real world) timer when your pet has the chance for a growth spurt. I've seen spurts as high as 40% of it's full size but those are pretty rare. 10 or 20% is about average but there's also the chance it may miss a spurt all together. If you're lucky you're looking at 3 or 4 real world days.
While you're waiting you may want to release one of your Cu Pa's and get some CH exp by taming, training and releasing as many babies as you can find. It's not as glamorous as fighting but it gives good steady exp while your pet is growing up.
As for Challenge Levels, these can only be seen by a Master Scout when he does an examine on a creature. This will supposedly change next week with apatch that will let you see what your pet is once you have it tamed and can examine it on your datapad. If you're curious about creatures you can't tame yet check some of the web sites like the Star Wars Galaxies Resource Center as they're starting to get "bestiaries" set up where players have posted the information about different animals.

My First tame was a wrix. What I did was take the regualr missions I was doing and could take on by myself...after I would have something pretty much dead I would put my wrix on it and get the ch xp. He only had like 100 some ham at the time of taming him but he never did get hurt during any of those missions doing it that way.

Hi, i have a bunch of questions about CH, i started with the profession 2 days ago, and i'm going to take it to master.
1) What's the vitality used for? I have a pet with 96/100.
2) I know that some "vitality stimpacks" exist... if i use one, the second number in the vitality will drop? (like the weapon condition does when it gets repared).
3) What's the better pet to get as master?
4) What's ferocity used for?
5) Why sometimes my pet start running away from the target, instead of keep fighting with it?
Thanks!!
1) What's the vitality used for? I have a pet with 96/100.
It's designed to keep you from having indestructible pets that you never have to replace, without making your pets die permanently. Basically, you will eventually have to replace each pet.
2) I know that some "vitality stimpacks" exist... if i use one, the second number in the vitality will drop? (like the weapon condition does when it gets repared).
yes, it's exactly like that.
when a pet dies once, it goes to 98/100
use a pack on him, and he goes back to 99/99
every death substracts 2, and every vitality pack adds 1 (and removes 1 from the 2nd number)
so he'll go like this with each new death/vitality pack:
100/100 -> 98/100 -> 99/99
99/99 -> 97/99 -> 98/98
98/98 -> 96/98 -> 97/97
After 75%, you experience 25% stat loss. (which is when you'll likely get a new one) - So basically, you get 25 deaths per pet.
3) What's the better pet to get as master?
that depends on what you want to do with him
pvp? get a FAST pet.
tank? get a pet with ARMOR or high resists to kinetic damage.
damage? get a pet with nice specials.
4) What's ferocity used for?
It will determine how well your pets stands his ground in a fight.
5) Why sometimes my pet start running away from the target, instead of keep fighting with it?
see ferocity above.
I'm not so good with the Vitality questions. Those could be answered better by a BE since they make them. But they might be answered better by one of us, since we use them. Kinda a catch 22.
5.) Your pet may be running inthree ways. One; he comes running to daddy. I don't know why this happens but seems to happen the farther away from your target you are when you give the "attack" command. Seems if your pet does not encounter your enemy after a given time, he'll break off the attack and come running to it's master. Two; he and the bad guy go running off together, seemingly to frolic amongst the flowers. This happens because your enemy is trying to get to ideal range for the range weapon he/she has, and your pet is running to keep at it's idea range (zero). Three; You attack an enemy, you give the "attack" command to your pet, you kill your enemy before your pet reaches your enemy, and you're pet just keepsgoing and going. Don't tame Energizer bunnies and this will not happen. It happens because your pet is just staying on the same tragetory as he was on, but the enemy is not there. There must be a stop running cammand that is programmed into the game that works when the enemy is encountered. With a dead enemy, no enemy is encountered. Nothing to prevent this but shout the "follow me" command. Actually all can be fixed by commanding the pet to "follow me" or "attack" original target or something new.
Those are just my observations, but I may be wrong.

CavemanGamer and SamuraiMAK, thanks for your answer.
I have solved all my questions about the proffesion, but now i have a good one...
I want to use my pet as a tank, so which is the pet with highest AR and kinetic defense?
Thanks!
3) What's the better pet to get as master?
that depends on what you want to do with him
pvp? get a FAST pet.
tank? get a pet with ARMOR or high resists to kinetic damage.
damage? get a pet with nice specials.
In reference to the Damage answer, how do you tell if a pet has "specials"?
