Thread: make asteroids damage our ships if we fly into one

I agree. Collision damage should only be for the major chunks, freighter+ size ships, space stations and other BIG things. Tiny asteroids should be deflected by nav shields and hull integrity by design.
Agree as well.
Anything less than half the size of my ship should get deflected, anything more should be avoided.
As to scraping NPC targets against an object, well, why not? Movies, games, RL fighter pilotsall seem to use that tactic as much as possible. Independence Day doesn't count ![]()
As it stands right now, I freely use stations, rocks, freighters to bounce into for an almost immediate redirection to throw off a pursuer. So, damn skippy I am gonna stop doing thatif this gets implemented, but I like the idea still.

Absolutely! Would be so welcome to see, and hear, huge changes coming to space.
As far as a gameplay idea, though, I love it. If they combine that with reasons to travel through an asteroid field then it would be really cool. If, for example, you were being followed by capital ships and needed a place where they couldn't follow. Or there was a space station where you could land that was in the heart of a dangerous, dense asteroid field. How much fun would that be - a POB full of players trying to get to this space station, on the edge of their seat the whole time because the pilot's sweating his way through this hellish asteroid field. Better yet, if you're a better pilot you'll be more likely to be hired to make the run.
