there should be an increase to the number of lots alloted to players anyway. i had just a few harvs plus a house, and was down to 0 lots left in no time. 15 lots seems like a good number - not too many, not too few... for many of the players i imagine. or how about the ability to buy lots from those who dont want more than a few for their houses and plan to never add harvs? then limit the max ownable to 25.
hmm...

The way I understood it from beta was this. They would only charge you for a lot if you had two ships decorated. The multiplayer master pilot level ships are decoratable. They were only going to allow 1 decorated ship period. If you wanted to decorate the other you would of had to undecorate the yatch to decorate the yt-1300. This went over like a lead ballon, so they changed it to allow you two ships at the cost of 1 lot.
As a side note they have item restrictions on players because of data base issues. Each player has the ability to store 960 items per account. Add up all the accounts for the game and you can see why the limit the total number of items.
5 medium houses @ 2 lots each = 750 items
1 bank account = 100 items
1 backpack = 50 items
On person = 60 items
Total items 960 items

Kmon guys......
The devs were being nice enough to give us this, and you guys are complaining about it? If you don't like it, don't get it! That is like getting a present then complaining that it is not good enough.

My complaint is instead of their previous plans where it was a gift, they changed it to take something away from me.

it originally wasn't the plan to take it away. all you would have to deal with would be that you can't decorate 2 multiplayer ships. There was an outcry on the boards about it and the devs actually listened... and changed it. You can decorate 2 ships, but they're gonna cost you a lot. Don't blame the devs, blame the people who complained.

I blame both. The complainers and the devs who changed it without mentioning it anywhere but page 9,000,006 in that thread so that they only heard the input of the complainers.

If I remember correctly, the way it was set up originally was that if you decorated one multi-player ship, you couldn't even LAUNCH a second MP ship without removing the decorations. If it was you could only decorate one and still launch both, I don't think there would have been too big an issue.
Yea, it definitely sucks, especially for the crafters and miners. The reward ship should give you an extra lot...that can only be used for that ship, so that it doesn't take one away from the ground. But I doubt the devs would change it because of their database problems.

I agree that this is complete and utter BS. This is a REWARD?! A reward should not cost you something to claim. It's like when you get that BS phonecall saying "Congratulations! You just won a FREE, ALL EXPENSE-PAID trip to some exotic destination!"
And then they ask you for your credit card because you have to pay port fees, taxes, etc. Hang on... I thought it was FREE? ALL EXPENSE-PAID??? Doesn't sound that way to me.
BS, that's what this is, plain and simple.
A reward for something should not cost you anything.

Of course, the limit is there to discourage people from using the extra storage space and help keep the database as small as possible.
If you want to think about it logically, though, imagine that you've got to have some place to park those large ships.

if it bothers you people so bad... just redeed the ship. you'll get yer 1 lot back. this isn't an issue with the reward ship, its an issue with the mp craft all together. Would it be fair to give the yacht people an extra lot for their ship and not one to the non-vets who get the yt-1300? and if you didn't have lots, people could theoretically get 225 free item spots... and that messes with the database.
yeh it sucks. you lose a lot. but guildhalls gain 2 now...

We fought about this in beta and told the devs that there would be many reactions like this.
"The decision was made"
/sigh
The thing is that people won't expect to have to use a "lot" for something that never shows up on the ground...
It's just a way to keep more items off of the servers to compensate for hardware and possibly software limitations. BTW, I think it may be more complicated than disk space, but database responce time or something like that. Fundamentally you are spot on Vashner.
I am still strongly in favor of only "charging" a lot for the second multiplayer ship that's decorated. But that's just me.
