I am wondering what is currently the best ship? Is it the Arc, heavy x-wing, jedi starfighter or something else?

Theres different instances that would warrant one ship over another. Then theres factional diffences. For me, my all pourpose craft is my Adv. X-Wing (missions, mining, and PvP). I could live without anything else if neccessary. However I do have an ARC for when I have company in need of XP, and I do like the Bel but I dont use it even in PvP cause the A-X has alot more gun power (may be my demise). Id prolly be inclined to use the JSF, but Im not ready to loose my Alliance Ace for it. All this is looking from a Rebels PoV of course.

Well I'm a neutral Pilot (Smugglers Alliance), that likes big ships that can dish out a lot of firepower and is relativly quick. Like my Rihkxyrk, but once I make master Pilot I plan on getting a firespray. What I'm wondering is if neutral pilots are at a disadvantage since we don't have a ship that has 4 blaster ports that can be opperated by one person.

There aren't any ships with four blaster ports managed by the pilot except the Bwing.

Personally, I like my krayt (neutral) ship for its 3 blasters and the forth as an aid for pilots needing experience. Three level 10 or 9 RE'd weapons pack quite a punch.

That spray ship will give you only 2 weapons but allow ya to pack in two ordnance.

Also, the Krayt is more manueverable and faster than the firespray.

Not sure about hit box, however.

Im not sure if anyone does. The Adv. X has 3, Bel has 2, and dont get me lying but I think the TIEs only get 2 +1 manned gun in the rear.

So far I've tried the Z-95 heavy, Y-Wing Long Probe, X-Wing with Side strakes and the ARC-170. I've been sticking with the X-Wing for it's good weapons spread and respectable mass but the ARC is calling me.

B-Wings have four. Its a sweet b*tch trying to keep the cappie from draining. My eyes cross at the thought of people putting a quartet of L9-10 guns in that thing.

its all about the Scyk and Z95. Me and aramiss have a blast flying them around. I think i'm going to upgrade to WO4 instead of 3... it drains the cap big, but with my setup, it won't be an issue. 13.6 energy per shot and1175 energy in cap with a 45 recharge (before overloads), comes out to ~2400 energy and ~96 recharge. i should be able to take the WO4

The issue with WO4 isn't the cap drain (on a single gun ship like a heavy scyk), it's the reactor drain.

That heavy scyk really, really wants EO4 running to compensate for the hitbox size. That multiplies your engine reactor drain by 10. WO4 does the same thing to your weapon reactor drain.

So let's say you were responsible and got your engine drain down around 1500. Under eo4, that's 15k. Weapons typically come in a little higher on drain..assume you've got an 1800 on your L8 RE (which should be 13.4 eps btw, not 13.6). You're up to 33k just to get your engine and gun working at the same time. Throw in another5kfor other components and your energy requirement is 38k.

Ok, so RO4 gives you a 90% increase in reactor output, which means you need at least a 20k reactor. These are certainly attainable even post-nerf, thanks to the miracles that are the Slayn & Korpil 'Vortex' Mk3 Reactor and the Kuat Systems RCT-Z Reactor. Let's say you got your hands on the more rare of the two, a really nice Vortex. The lowest you're going to get the mass on that is in the 15,000 range.

Wow. So I started out writing this in the 'cool idea but not realistic' vein, but having done the math it's perfectly feasible, as long as you don't need to run a level 10 engine or gun. It'd take some pretty rare comps, but that'd be a hell of a mean high mass variant fighter.

energy total is around 13k (going off brain) my engine is 1525 Reactor Drain and my gun......... uh... i don't know, RE'd it last night, lol.. cap = 700 RD, DI=400 drain, shields... i think 2k and that's about it. i'm using about 7k energy total on my ship.
