Ok, just get direcly behind the engine and match speed, they can't shoot you (as easily, if they even can) in that spot, since they can't shoot themselves. I almost took a tier 4 deciminator.

Im interested in seing if the Corvette in kessel shares that old limitation.
No clue, but the b*tch can fire on you from upwards of 750m out.

The problem with the corvette is it manouvers like its a fighter (it can turn faster than my B-wing) making it impossible to stay behind it before you take out its engines. This needs to be fixed, capships should not fly that way, it also constantly rams into its gunship escorts because of this. The ones in deep space to this too and it looks stupid with a line of capships jittering around trying to dodge shots.
As long as you kill its escorts and engines you can sit behind it as long as you like, so that part is correct

Ive yet to master pilot, but I know that is just not right. Weird...
Yes the guns will keep firing, but since the gunboat can no longer turn over to expose you to its upper firing arc, you could sit there underneath it having tea and scones all afternoon and it will never be able to fire a shot at you or do an ounce of damage. Gunboats also have a habit of jumping to hyperspace flushing all your work down the toilet. It's more efficient to neuter its movement, get underneath it switch to targeting the hull and finish it off fast. The difference is you have it beat in a fraction of the time and are 26000 xp points richer alot sooner.

Maybe I had a bugged mission, but I took out the reactor on a gunboat and the guns kept firing. I was like, "W T F?" because how does a ship fire its weapons without any energy? Anyway, since that experience, I target weapons first always.

Once this new patch is put in, all turret-equipped enemies will be harder, as their guns will shoot farther than blasters. 535-549m won't be the sweet spot anymore.
I hope that includes MP ship turrets

Three words. Not cost effective.
I said an exploit to a pour AI. If I was flying the gunboat, you wouldn't be in my blind spot for very long, that can be assured, but the AI doesn't realize that if it maneuvers a bit, the target will be attackable. My point was that you shouldn't be able to solo a gunboat and those that do use a trick to exploit a bad AI which is true. If I were to try soloing the gunboat, I would do the same thing and hope the pilot is dumb.

Talk about sour grapes. It's not an exploit to stay underneath it so it can't hit you, it's common sense. I kill them this way with and without a wingman. Why subject yourself to the firing arc of their guns when you are agile enough to stay out of it.

If you fly without a wingman, you are a fool. Any REAL fighter pilot will want a wingman when in a combat situation. I expect that with a wingman or two, you can take on the gunboat, but you need to work together and dance in and out of the targets range.
There may be some that can solo it, but it is nothing to be impressed over. 99% of those that solo, used some sort of "trick" exploiting a poor AI. Put a player or two in the gunboat and you would need a few wingman to beat it.
lol so flying with 3 people, dancing in and out of range, isn't exposing flaws in AI, but sitting underneath it or strafing it solo is? there are no real team/solo accomplishments when NPC AI is involved, not flying with wingman using "sound tactics" not finding an AI flaw and abusing it.

lol, no, flying with 3 people, dancing in and out of range, isn't exposing flaws in the AI. The gunboats are supposed to be very slow, so even a good AI would have a hard time against this strategy. If the AI does it rightthough,it would use its full complement of missles on the attacking craft when they come into range and be perfoming pot shotsto possibly win the battle.Sitting under the gunboat is exposing flaws in the AI because the AI does nothing to try to stop this (like rolling). Now, if you are areally good pilot and can stay underneath it, even when the AI tries its best to get you in its sights, then it is skill and my hats off to you, but with the current AI, there is no way to show off your skills.
