Tier 4 Missions are best done with Hyper Maneuverable Spaceships.. and dont fly those ships at low speeds.. they are chasing machines and thats why i have solo'ed all of my tier 4 missions...

I was having the same problems, except Im Imperial, so am stuck in a 49k mass TIE Interceptor until I get enough XP for my first box Im doing ok now though, heres how I managed:

1. Escort duty missions. These are the best for grinding if you're stuck in an inferior ship, dont fire at the enemies when they first hyper in, let them make a pass on the escort and then get on their tail(the frieghter's shields can take the punishment, yours cant). Only attack one TYPE of fighter at a time, say, for example, Im up against a wave of 3 Syck, 3 Dunelizard and 2 Kimogila, I take on the Kimogilas first, and only Kimogilas will attack me, then I take on the Sycks because they're right buggers, and finally I pop the Dunelizards which are, quite frankly, easy XP.

2. Droid programs. These help a huge amount. Trade with an Imperial for Engine Overload 3 and Weapon Overload 3, then trade with a Rebel for Shield ADJUSTMENT Front Heavy and Shield Adjustment Rear Heavy. If enemies keep "jousting" with you, switch your shields to double-front and turn on Weapon Overload, they wont last more than a couple of passes and your shields will be able to take more punishment. If you're facing moderatly fast but not very manuverable ships, switch shields to double-rear, turn on Engine Overload and drop in on their tail one by one. The extra rear shields will keep you safe if one of them gets on your tail, and with one of the new high-mass Kimos, you should be able to fit three nice guns on it, make sure you have a really hefty Reactor though, because these programs are going to suck up a lot of extra energy.

3. If this still isnt working for you, go the slow bt really, really easy route. Jump to D-435 in the Endor system and fly up to the station, you should see plenty of yellow dots around. Cycle through them until you find "a Trader's Bodyguard(Z-95)" or "a Trader's Mercenary(Z-95)", they're tier 4 and non-aggro, so you can rip them up without any of their mates joining in, and they respawn almost continually(sometimes you have to blow up the friegter they were guarding to get them to respawn). A REALLY easy 3.2k xp each.

Answer to the first post: Wow I know whatyour problem is my friend!

AGRESSOR

I am a rebel Ace, I can solo all destroy-duty missions from all the tier4 rebel trainers. But, the important part is, we get NO AGRESSOR in our destroy-duty! With the current imprevious aiming turret system you get beaten to a pulp by anything sporting a turret...

Currently with my ship design and skills I can solo up to 5 tier 5 without a scratch to my armor. But I can't take more then one Tier5 agressor at a time.

BTW, you can select the cannon subcomponent on the Agressor, use it. But if you get more than one agressor per spawn... well don't do those duties! Go seek anotherneutral trainer for your level.

You mean there's more than one? Is there a list somewhere?

Oh yay, another "I can't solo tier 4 post." Some one needs to make a stick named You must group when you get to tier 3 or so.

This is Neutral SMugglers Alliance stuff: Every duty mission kills me. I needed the help of 2 Aces to beat the Tier 3 final mission.Don't think I died once in the whole time before that. I expected that this would be like the Tier 2 duty missions, where you gotta learn it then it gets easier and easier until you start getting boxes. Nope. I've maybe killed 10 ships, and that's from running the Destroy Duty mission twice, and killing the 1st 4 waves, then entersa TIE Agressor whichbeats my face in because it can shoot at me coming AND going. I'm not even halfway through the first skill box, and I'm getting XP very little at a time. This would take a few nights of running this sameduty mission through the first 4 waves, quitting, retaking mission, killing 4 waves, quitting, retaking mission... etc. AlsoI can't seem to get any decent loot either. My ship is totally up to snuff, but the stupid duty missions keep putting me up against TIEs which are 3 or 4 times faster than me. They swoop past and by the time I'm turned around they are already advancing a toward me. The Firesprays are easy as hell but the TIE Advanceds take a good3 or 4 minutes to kill per, that's if they are solo.Which makes for veryslow XP. Then the Agressor comes, and then I have to hyper out because the thing can kill me no matter what way it's pointing.

What ship do most Neutrals take at the 3-3-3-3 point? I've got a coupledecently fast engines, but none of them seem to help me in the maneuvarabiliity department.I kept my DuneLizard up until recently but the mass began to kill me. So I moved up to a Kimo. More mass, but impossible to maneuver. But when I'm grouped with people I see them doing 180 degree turns, practically, in thier frigging X and AWings. Is there even a remotely manauverable Neutral craft that has good mass (over 80000) and can hold at least 2 blasters? I seem to findproton torpspretty weak so far. It's not that I'm a sucky pilot-- I made it to 3-3-3-3, but come on... this Tier seems IMPOSSIBLE. And I can't go around bugging people to group with me for DAMN DUTY MISSIONS. Grouping should be encouraged BUT NOT NECESSARY.

Big tip for Tier 4.

Find friend who is master. Get another friend who is needing xp Get on Nova corier and you can tank teir 4 missions with 1 ship. you each get about 1k xp per kill takes a while but is fun. my mates Nova has guns that do 3k-5k dmg takes us no time to destroy the teir 4 ships if they come in straight 5 blast BOOOM 1k xp And as a gunner I can run all the Droid Commands only thing I cant do is Emergency Shields or the scrabler. as u must be on the ops chair to run them.

Im 4433 freelance and the best way to kill the aggressors I have found is find a rebel pilot to make you the front shield program. Not sure what its called exactlly but it will dump all rear shield power to the front shields. I cna solo 2 aggressors at one time. target the agressors weapons and just hammer him till his weapons are gone and he stops fireing. by then my front shields are gone, so hit the shield program and dump power to front shields then take out the other ones weapons, then go back andfinnish them both off. sit and let shields recharge, then continue with the mission. This works for me, right up to the point where 3 aggressors come out! Havent figured how to get past that yet. I dident read all the posts so if someone else said this, sorry!

You can get a 110kmass kimo now after the patch, and you can get 3 lvl 7 guns into a 88k kimo. The new dunelizards are at 85k mass if you want amore nimble ship or the Ix...whatever, the black sun fast attack ship, has 95k of mass.

So HERE is where I'm getting screwed. My Kimo, again, is only 88K mass and when I bought it it was the best I could find. Holy crap. This is probably why I'm taking so long to kill stuff,I'm settling forsubstandard weaponsbecause I like to keep at LEAST 2, but I can't put my best 2 up because of mass issues. Again, it was a trade-off issue.Cripes. I gotta find a new Kimo.

I understand the reason for wanting to bring people, but I think it shouldn't be necessary to need other people to do Duty Missions to simply get XP.

Not only that, but you need to get the rebel and imperial droid programs. I was getting killed with the first tier 4 mission until I figured out the droid chip thing. Now I can get through the missions with ease. Trust me, you need the chips from the other factions. Makes all the difference.

I now have a Rihk with 192k mass. I load it up with all my gear. After I launch into space I do the following every time before I start the missions:

1 - Reactor Overload 3

2 - Weapon Overload 3

3 - Engine Overload 3

Then, as needed while fighting I use the rebel shield programs to help out if I get in a jam.

This made things 10 times easier. You should try it!

How do u go about this? I never knew about this?

I too am having trouble with the new AI on duty missions. I am 4333 with a Rihkxyrk that has 187k of mass (I only use about 117k of it).

The jousting is bullcrap. Especially when I have to go against Tier 4 A-Wings that looks like they are flying at like 1500 speed. They fly right at me, take a couple of potshots, then fly away. By the time I turn around, the A-Wing is already flying full speed at me again.

The old AI was way too easy. The new AI is way too hard. The Devs need to find a happy medium somehow.
