This is Neutral SMugglers Alliance stuff: Every duty mission kills me. I needed the help of 2 Aces to beat the Tier 3 final mission.Don't think I died once in the whole time before that. I expected that this would be like the Tier 2 duty missions, where you gotta learn it then it gets easier and easier until you start getting boxes. Nope. I've maybe killed 10 ships, and that's from running the Destroy Duty mission twice, and killing the 1st 4 waves, then entersa TIE Agressor whichbeats my face in because it can shoot at me coming AND going. I'm not even halfway through the first skill box, and I'm getting XP very little at a time. This would take a few nights of running this sameduty mission through the first 4 waves, quitting, retaking mission, killing 4 waves, quitting, retaking mission... etc. AlsoI can't seem to get any decent loot either. My ship is totally up to snuff, but the stupid duty missions keep putting me up against TIEs which are 3 or 4 times faster than me. They swoop past and by the time I'm turned around they are already advancing a toward me. The Firesprays are easy as hell but the TIE Advanceds take a good3 or 4 minutes to kill per, that's if they are solo.Which makes for veryslow XP. Then the Agressor comes, and then I have to hyper out because the thing can kill me no matter what way it's pointing.

What ship do most Neutrals take at the 3-3-3-3 point? I've got a coupledecently fast engines, but none of them seem to help me in the maneuvarabiliity department.I kept my DuneLizard up until recently but the mass began to kill me. So I moved up to a Kimo. More mass, but impossible to maneuver. But when I'm grouped with people I see them doing 180 degree turns, practically, in thier frigging X and AWings. Is there even a remotely manauverable Neutral craft that has good mass (over 80000) and can hold at least 2 blasters? I seem to findproton torpspretty weak so far. It's not that I'm a sucky pilot-- I made it to 3-3-3-3, but come on... this Tier seems IMPOSSIBLE. And I can't go around bugging people to group with me for DAMN DUTY MISSIONS. Grouping should be encouraged BUT NOT NECESSARY.

ummmmmm, tehcnically, you aren't supposed to be able to solo Tier 4 missions. the whole point is to group, which is what the devs are aiming at: grouping. They are trying to lessen the amount of God-mode this game already has. not EVERYTHING is supposed to be soloable you know

Tier 3 and at least the tier 4 I have done can be solo'd, im allso a Privateer smugglar alliance, I got to 3,4,3,3 all with a tier 2 ship, 4,4,4,3 skill I did with Tier 4 ship, this last mission to earn the last skill is what im left on haven't finished it, sevral tries, but I might need one other person to finish it, its not too hard just too many to kill.

The trick is to use your target scrambler skill at the right times, repair when you can.

oh forgot, mission for my 3rd tier 4 skill was a fluke, there was a tier 5 Tie gunship and it did incapasitate me, the fluke was I drifted right inside its hull, and it wasnt moving, and it couldnt shoot at me, so I waited. It was a escort mission so I sat there dead in space until the ship warped out, mission wasnt over but moved on to another stage, that worked out because I could eject without failing the mission. Ran to the next WP after geting repaired but it was a trap! mission said get the *blank* out of there, in so many words, and promplty awarded the mission. Got a great new weapon for that, as a reward, 2500+ damage 14 energy use, my capasitor recharges faster then that so I never run low now.

I didnt say it was impossible, I did solo every mission I have been givin except the one im on, untill I call my friends or solo that one then I cant make any more claims. I havent solo'd every mission I got on the first try, but I did finish them solo.

Are you saying that you're stuck at 3333 because it's taking you too long to grand out the xp for your first Tier 4 box? Well, if the destroy duty mission is too difficult because of the new AI changes, try the escort duty. It should be a lot easier, it might take longer to grand but at least you don't have to quit after 10 kills.

Can also just grind xp whereever you can find best targets for you. Don't have to finish duty/escort/etc missions to get training in my experience thusfar.

Kimogila was the ship I used to solo to 4/3/3/3. Finding a 12.99 regen 1600 shield fairly early on realllly helped. That and the 92.2 engine.

Tier four seems to require either some wingmen or mad skills, uber componentsand some good luck.

You neutral pilots are actually luckier than us Imperial pilots. We're stuck with the TIE Advanced at Tier 4 which has a tiny 65K mass so I can only use a 1000 shield and that's it. The Aggressor has more mass but it'snot asmaneuverable and needs a co-pilot for the rear gun.

Well yes... at the 'take destroy mission, kill 6 ships, then quit mission' rate I'm going, to get that 4th Components box will take me a few nights at least, because it takes time to keep quitting and getting a new mission (because I absolutely can NOT beat that Agressor, and even if I did the mission gets harder as it goes along). It's got my front armor down by the time it's ready for it's second pass, meaning I'm high-tailing it into hyperspace less than a minute after it's arrival. And I'm running Cert 6 or 7weapons, armor and shields. I'm not running all my stuff that high though, because most of it wieghs 10K mass or more, and I simply have to compromise.

I ground out most of Tier 2 doing the escort mission they gave me-- that was actually fun. Tier 3 required NO grinding at all-- the missions provided plenty (especially having to do a couple of them over via failing or bailing) and I actually had 300k XP extra going in to Tier 4. But this escort mission puts me against 4 Tier 4 TIE Advanced per wave, which fly circles around me. By the time I've done much of anydamage to one, another wave is coming in, and that makes it a 7 to 1 fight (then 10 to 1 if I kill another guy by the time the next wave comes strolling in), and when you do the math that equals one dead me.

I guess it could be that my shields and armor blow nuts, because I'm not surviving long enough to put the hurt on, but no one sells GOOD crafted stuff, and if they do it's WAY too expensive, especially considering if it works good, it'll be outdated when I get that Components box. But I Don't know why Cert 6 and 7 stuff should suck if that's the best I can have. And I'm no dummy, I know how to read stats and stuff, so it's not like I'm putting crap on my ship. I think it's mostly that NPC TIEs are much too strong. If these missions were CorSec or RSF like they say they are (but aren't)I think I'd be having much fewer problems, but really all I'm fighting are Imperial craft.

Basically it doesn't make sense that I'm on top of my game and kickin' ass Tiers 0-2, and most of Tier 3, then all the sudden it's a 180 and I can hardly do anything to these guys.

Well, I don't know. Grouping for duty mission is silly. I haven'ttried any Tier 4 duty missions after the patch, will try tomorrow. But before the patch, the duty missions were so easy, both escort and destroy types. And I was using TIE Advanced so I coudn't use all lvl 6/7 stuff in my ship due to low chassis mass, but it was still easy enough.

Heh. Turns out one of the reasons I was getting creamed so fast: My shields are Cert 4 for some reason. I think a while back I must of switched out for extra mass for something else. Got some new ones, and I'm certainly keeping alive alot longer. TIE Agressor still kicks my ass tho... in the two attempts, I beat him fairly easy but hischeating rear-firingass blew away my entire front armor... the second time, going in with better blasters, he ALMOST killed me. I hypered out JUST in time. I don't know W-T-F it's like this. These TIEs are retarded, they keep going out and making passes, doing the same exact thing over and over and over and over and over. Are they supposed to do that?

Also, mass is starting to get REALLY annoying to me. My Kimo has about 88k... but to keep up with the Tier4 ships I would need more, but no other ships go even this high. It's like I can put good certed parts of certain ones, but in order for any balance I can't put 'just decent' parts on where I need to save mass-- I need to put really schmitty parts in there to save mass. I mean why does it give you a 3-weapon option, if your shipneedsmass compromiseswhen you try to put more than1 on the ship. It doesn't make sense. I'm *almost* on the verge of saying it's not fair. But I mean, other people are whipping ass up there. It's not like I don't understand the mass/compromising system... It's just that most of the cert 6/7 parts wiegh a ton I guess.

don't mean to dishearten, but I've soloed every mission so far in imp Shadow Squadron(arguably hardest squadron in game) and i'm 4-4-4-3 atm. in beta I soloed every single mission from start to finish as privateer and i've soloed just about every mission for imp now too(even the 2 i haven't finished, just not the Vette with imp). I think it's all about skill. I played Xwing, then TIE Fighter, then Xwing Vs. TIE when it came out. I've played since the start and I love this game because it brings back those memories. i have no problems with soloing but I still group with friends just makes for more fun in a group
