Thread: A first step for JTL content? What about remove insta-travels?

Whie i agree it would be cool to get more people in space, i am categorically against any suggestion that removes the travel button.

Call it a holdover from EQ if you want, but sometimes time to play is short due to real life schedules. I'd rather spend my time playing, and not "waiting for the boat" so to speak.

What a stupid idea.

The reason they have insta travel is because what you are sugesting sucks.

The system you are describing sounds like the 6 year old EQ boat system. Nearly everyone hated it, it gets old real fast. Was it more realistic? Yes. Did it add anythingmeaningful to the game? Nope, just downtime.SOE realized this and added instant portals to that game. The novelty of being able to walk around a ship for several minutes while it traverses a zone wears off after you've done it acouple times. After that its just a time sink.

Sorry, the last thing an SOE game needs is more downtime. Adding downtime is NOT content Lol, what are you thinking?

When launching to space its pretty quick on my machine. When jumping its almost instant. When landing is also the same.

It will also give reason to take the shuttle as well. Want to get there with no hassles? go to the shuttle port and shuttle in.

Want to actually use a product that you purchased for a the reason of traveling with adventure? Use your star ship.

Currently there is no reason for space travel. No reason for going to space what so ever as a novice pilot can get to a planet as fast as a Master Pilot and just as safe. Not only that but every planet seems like next door. You step through a door and you are there. No space in between is not realistic.

Someone brought up the point that space was lagging durring the Beta tests. Well if you look now there is actually nobody in space which means most are playing the ground game or insta traveling. Remember durring beta Everyone was up in space, trying the new ships, trying out the combat, crowding up inspace. Right now that demand is close to nil...

With that said we need to start utilizing the space component much more with the shuttle being the Option for insta-Travel. Space should absolutly not be an option in Starwars! Space should be a mandatory thing as this is STARwars not Landwars with Star as optional.

Just really unrealistic. I can travel every planet in 6 minutes flat, does that sound a bit unrealistic?

It should take time to get from place to place in a world as vast as a whole entire galaxy like starwars.

ill say this again because people dont seem to get it. why change the system when you can CHANGE THE WAY YOU PLAY. you are the ones in control here. dont like the travel button? dont think its immersive? then launch your own ship and fly. its that simple.

why force everyone including laggy people and people who dont have lots of time to play to sit around and wait? if you want to fly here and there because its more star warsy. feel free. no one is stopping you. just launch your ship and get going.

Thing is, the devs only made a temporary shuttling sequence. Stated during beta, this would change once players got their own starships. We asked about interior of shuttles and being able to chat with peeps onbaord for a minute or two. However, since launch date was approaching they decided to jsut make this temporary warping with shuttles. We now have our own starwhips. Can we have our long term shuttling?

Instant traveling is very Star Wars like. But its a game, in SW universe there was no 1^infinity jedi, unarmed fighters couldn't hit you while 15 meters away. Think of the lag near coronet and theed space stations .... everyone comming in/out it will be impossible to move quicly.

Well it dosnt create ANY load for instant travel..... You never acctually make it to space, its just like your takeing the shuttle. And I totally disagree about the over load the servers thing. There are not that many people traveling at any given time to make it a problem... and to fix that problem the space zone around the space stations could be divided up between more servers.

Back on the main topic... the idea is def good and is something the devs should really look into. This is something I perosnally have wanted for ages now and would love to see in the game.

Well put. Why force people wo dont want that level of immersiveness(sp?) on people who dont enjoy it.

if you really want to you can get up in your ship and fly off and land all you want but if i dont want to deal with the loading time it takes and how tedius it becomes, why force me to.

again, i hated... i mean really hated, thos 10 min waits at the shuttle.... im so glad that i can just travel from one planet tothe other now.

Ok, you don't want that level of immersiveness but, my god,we can fly across the galaxy in 4 secs. Now i'm on Tatooine, after less than 10 secs i'm on Dantooine, on the other side of the universe... Did you modify those options on launchpad, to improve SWG performances? Loading time is very short and if you lag... well maybe you should buy another computer

On FarStar: MYLO EXAGONALIS ---> Mon Calamari Pikeman / Doctor.

On Chimaera: JANTO KORMAKIS ---> Human Commando / Rifleman / Squad Leader

I just wanna talk about the "danger" aspect of travelling...

I dunno about you, but I travel in my passenger ship. My passenger ship can't be attacked anyways... so uh, skills wouldn't really matter.

Anyways, I'm kinda torn on the issue. I like it for "immersion" issues, but some of us (like myself) have horrible lag and load times as it is, and we want to try to keep those at a minimum, not try to add more to it.

Sure, just give me your address to mail the bill to. Low-income, school, kids, different priorities on the budget, just a couple of reasons a lot of us aren't able to afford new hardware. We don't complain about it (much). We run SWG looking like Quake II and still enjoy the game (I've always been more into gameplay then graphics anyway). We have as much right to protest to extra loading for a timesink, not content, a timesink! as you have to suggest it without getting a cheesy comment like buy another computer.

For those that think it's fun, how much fun would it be three months from now when you've seenand done it a couple hundreds times.

Timesinks like jedi grind, experience, gated missions, sure, no problem. Meaningless timesinks to get from a to b, no thank you.

Meet you halfway: Non-JTL enabled players can board our MP ships soplayers can start running trips between planets. They save the cost, you get some people in your MP ship to talk to during travel.

Because nature dictates the path of least resistance thats why.

Everyone will use it reguardless of option. Right now there is no reason for space, andif you have JTL there is no reason for the spaceport unless your shuttling to your town.

Your argument is why take away convenience? Why because its realistic, its immersive, and by having that insta travel its taking away the STAR from Starwars. This isnt Star Trek. If you wish to use the insta travel then you should use the public transportation but I for one would love to use the JTL aspect of my game. Its what I and everyoen that has JTL paid for. To travel in a starship and for the stars to have purpose and meaning. Right now it dosent.

So to answer your question.... Its to actually get what we paid for, to travel the stars with out the option to skipping it. I paid for starwars not star trek....

if you don't like travel, dont use it. simple fix.

do not force your preferences for loading screens on everyone else.
