I looked but did not see a means of remapping that function. I found out I need to turn off this view in order to reduced some graphical lag while shooting. It would be convienient to be able to map this to a simpler key.

Not that this hasn't been done to death or anything but...
Ctrl+Shift+F2 or change your 'show cockpit frame' options

hello, i was just wondering if anyone knows if you can turn on and off the cockpit view.. i was an imperial pilot and i liked being inside the cockpit of a tie fighter, but i recently switched to neutral pilot and there is no cockpit view, just open space.. just wondering if i accidently hit something that turned it off. any help would be great, thanks

If you mean being inside the cockpit all I do to adjust this is move my mouse wheel. I am not sure if there is another way or how to toggle it on and off or if I am even thinking of the right thing. Anyway good luck getting back into cockpit view.

hrmm, shift f2 didn't work, now by cockpit view i don't mean like i'm seeing it 3rd person view, i mean to see the graphics of the inside of the cockpit.. i'm sure the ship has one, because when i go to light speed it shows me the inside of the cockpit breifly, but then disappears when i get out of lightspeed. its not terribly important, but i just kindly like the feel of being inside the cockpit, not just looking at an cursor in space. thanks for the quick replys though

just to note, the view inside most cockpits is really cramped. There are only a few ships I find tolerable in cockpit view for Neutral. Kimo/Krayt, and the Scyck. Its one of the larger graphical failings of JtL in my opinion, since close to 50% of the screen is taken up by nonfunctional instruments in a lot of cockpits, and you can't see your own hands

I find the X and Z95 to also have too much "dashboard" space. the Awing is barely tolerable, and as my sig says, I'm a slacker and haven't gotten my Bwing yet.

I believe that the keyboard shortcut is CTRL+SHIFT+F2. The option is either in the Misc. or Graphics options, and is a check box that I believe is labeled something about "Display Cockpit HUD". Then again, I'm a TIE pilot who always flies in first person with the cockpit view on. Yes it restricts my field of visibility, but it feels "right". Besides, who needs field of view when you've got 360 sphere radar coverage?

Thanks for the solution. I was wondering the same thing. I wound up not having it show up one day.
