Thread: As with the GCW, in JTL what are we fighting for?
I think the fight in JTL should change the outcome of the GCW balance on the ground...
This of course is to be added with the GCW revamp possibly, but here's a few ideas:
If a sector falls into imperial hands, rebels cannot launch into it anymore, they have to jump to it. On the ground all cities become swarmed with imperials and AT-STs and covert scanners are placed in cities in an attempt to "flush out" remaining Rebels.
If the rebels capture a sector, the reverse happens, all imperial presence is gone and rebels swarm the cities, looking for the remaining imperials. This would not affect continuity places such as the emperor's retreat or the corellian rebel base for instance.
This would also Activate on-the-ground PVE battlefields (before that only PVP fields were active.) On these battlefields you could also turn the tide of battle. To recap a sector, botht the space and ground would have to be recovered, by successfully winning on different PvE battlefields and in-space massive battles... This would lead to coordinated guild assaults with multiple guilds involved to turn the tide of the war on a certain server...
There's plenty of good ideas like that that could be put in later...

Thats the question that needs to be addressed to maintain interest in this game. Currently in JTL we fight for nothing but the sake of fighting. There are no land grabs, no attrition, no resources to claim and make available for any side.
We have no purpose, no motivation, notangible way to tally the success or failure of out faction. We cant help our side, we cant fail our side. we do nothing but grind to reach a level that helps insure our ability to grief each other in limied PvP engagements with no benefit but to grind Faction XP so we can use perks to grief again.
Whats the point? Whats my motivation?
Honestly, I'm just happy to know that I don't have to wait for 2 shuttles to go to one pls. Second. I'm sure there will be lots of bugs and lots of complaining. That's life. I'm sure the game will evolve like the ground game has. I suggest that if you don't want to hasle with it, just wait a 6 months. I can now go from naboo to talus!!! yay!!! or lok to talus. which I live in lok. lets see, lok - naboo, naboo - correlia, correlia - talus.
Yes I'm it may sound minor and simple. but that makes me happy. I think of space like the Freeway. Down the road they should planets that you can only reach via your own ship.
off topic. as for pvp. any corvert faction player should turn overt the momment they attack any opposite faction player/npc ei, rebel or imperial. Take that stupid tef away!!!!!
I know some ppl that wont even want jtl. they are happy on the ground. they don't want to be a pilot. Being a part of a crew of a ship like the yt-1300 sounds fun.
we won't know until we have it loaded in our hard drives, wont we?
I do agree with combat problems we have on the ground.

So, you have played JTL for a long time and discovered that it's empty of emotion and challenge, don't you?
How come you say that? Have you tried the missions? Do you know how PvP works in space? Have you read all FAQs in the forums?
JTL is, by far, the richest contest relating GCW inside the game, since you will ACTUALLY affect the pocket of your enemies by forcing them to repair their ships. If you made an imperial to waste 200k after you hit him, you made a good job for the rebellion.
And what's more, there is going to be a lot of missions like in the X-Wing series (how could you affect the history there?). Just do your job, pilot.
I don't think causing someone to suffer is a good motivation or should it be. Actually anything that personal is basically grief. I would rather more people PvP and have a positive reason to do so.
Such as the movies the rebels were fighting for freedom. Maybe a simple thing to fight against was weapons of great power that the empire would use to gain control. If the empire could somehow build super weapons and the rebels were the ones to have to stop them at least it would be a little bit more like the movies. And the super weapons would give the empire a huge area of control and power if they can maintain them. The empire would also have the support of the NPC's to assist with making the weapon so if the rebels ever get lazzy the weapon will get built one way or the other and become very difficult to destroy.
As soon as one weapon of mass destruction gets destroyed the empire has another one in their back pocket they start on.
Stopping one of these weapons of mass destruction should take both PvE and other types of mass amounts of missions before the rebels even have access to the area of it's location. So the rebels would have to complete 100,000 missions in different categories before they could even get a shot at the super weapons.
After which they have to get at least 100 players together to take it down, if not more. There could even be sequence such as ground crews have to destroy land targets first, and then space targets and finally can take out the super weapon. This would all be very much like the movies though the individual motivation would remain more role play.
