I'm not sure I am comfortable with the idea of having to spawn camp to complete a mission. Griefers will eventually learn that certain spawns are for certain missions and will camp them along with legitimate pilots.
I like the idea but when there is ALWAYS the potential for griefing, problems can and will occur. Just my opinion.

This definetly seems to be a problem on farstar, ive done the missions myself 8 times already and still cannot get the pirate to spawn.

I'm stuck on this mission because this stupid "Blacklight Pirate" won't spawn. talk about gating quests... it's so annoying and such a waste of time since if i leave I have to do all of the prior part over again.

Same problem here last night on Lowca. I was there maybe an hour and a half.
I did not notice a ship called "A Blacklight Pirate" and since I had not read about this quest earlier I was disabling every pirate ship in the area. Eventually there was another group there killing everything maybe they blasted it the one time it spawned?
As for the Tier 5 guy I really didn't find him that hard. I am still in a Y-Wing and I only have maybe 2-3 components that are Level 6 (no level 7). I was able to disable him as well as his Tier 3 buddies pretty easily through quite a few waves even before the other group showed up. I just wish I could have gotten the special pirate to spawn.
Asa hint to anyone having trouble with these pirates, target their engines (even if its not the special pirate) and disable them one at a time, then swoop around and kill them all while your shields recharge. I think if you just blast them another one spawns to replace it meaning you are always fighting 3 enemies. If you disable them 1 at a time you fight 3 then 2 then just 1 so your shields/capacitor have a few seconds to recharge before the next wave.

I just got to this mission last week. Was there over an hour inspecting all ships and nothing. I'll keep an eye out for this pirate. Hope it works.

I was there just a day ago and wasn't able to find a Blacklight Pirate that had the data. I know I disabled a few but they had nothing. Then I came back later and found something called a "Blacklight Squad Leader" which had not spawned before. I remember that in the quest journal it said you should look for their Squad Leader. Unfortunately, I was unable to inspect him because by then there were 7 other Blacklights pounding at me from multiple directions and no one in the area to help.
So now I am a bit confused, is it garaunteed to be on the "Pirate" or is it possibly on the "Squad Leader?"

ok I keep seeing this type of thread come up and heres how I did it I finaly found this damned ship after about 30mins of looking and had it shot out from under be twice or was it 3 time. Well no matter the ship your looking for should not be and assassin or bomber or leader it should be just a plain ship skirting around with no special label on it but with the changes sense I completed this mission I'm not sure it's thats changed either. I'll be doing this mission with my ingame wife in the next couple of days and will report if it's still the same.

I helped a friend do this mission last week, but we didn't use this "blacklight pirate" everyone is talking about. What I did as soon as I got to the area was press 't' until I had targetted the blacklight leader, flew right at him and disabled him quickly. My friend scanned and docked with him, I cleaned up a few ships while she hypered out and the mission was done.

i've sat at the waypoint for over1hour. i've scanned every ship and nothing. Maybe i'm just doing somethign wrong ??

Phew next week it will be fixed. Whoo hoo. 3 weeks to get my x-wing.
