You can /dock to a mission specific ship, some frieghters, and other ships once it has been disabled. You cannot /dock with a space station, you just "\" to contact it.

When you dock, your ship will position itself to the hull and retrieve the info you were looking for (if the ship in question, hasthe info aboard,after an inspection). Then it will detatch itself. You don't get up from your pilot seat or cross over at all...

...although that seems to be like a cool idea for the future. maybe MP ship instanced missions? hmmm?
