Thread: /dock question

not sure what i'm missing....i'm doing a rebel mission where i need to hack this lambda ship's computer and get some information to bring back. Anyway, when i scan the ship it says that the information is there and to use the /dock command in order to retrieve it. that doesn't work, and it keeps saying that the ship denies my request to dock. I must be missing a step somewhere. Maybe i'm not disabling the ship properly? I shoot it until it can't move any more, but still can't retrieve the info. i know the solution is probably something obvious, but i dunno.... ..oh ya, i also tried the /transfer, /transfer cargo, but just get a message about not being able to transfer the force...lol

some info or a link to the info would be appreciated. I did search a couple different sites, but nothing specific.

The standard key for tageting sub systems on the US keyboard should be ":" (colon) i think. I only have a german keyboad So i´m not 100% certain. But you can check in the keybindings wich one it is if it is not colon.

Oh and by the way:

Diabling Engines will make every ship stop.

DisablingReactor will supress a Ships ability to fire (it will empty its cap, but then runs dry). Not 100% if this makes it stop as well, but it wont be very fast if it is still flying

On a lambda shuttle, first disable it´s (only) weapon. Afterwrds it´s no danger anymore and you can diable it with ease.

You target subsystems with hitting [ or ] on a US keyboard layout (even tho I am german I prefer using a US Layout as it is much easier for my work )

You can dock with ships as well, but that´s opnly for retriving mission stuff... You can not swap ships in space and also you can not walk from one MP Ship to annother through docking.

It´s a feature we would all love to see implemented

To retrieve information or cargo from a ship (or complete some other task which requires docking):

Use [ or ] to target the ship's engines and your weapons to disable them. I've never had to run down through any other component, just the engines.

With the ship still targeted, type /dock.

Docking with a ship leaves you vulnerable to attacks for a time, so if there are any other fighters around, you might be in trouble depending on your shields and other support.

When in doubt, go into your Datapad and check the missions. I've noticed the Datapad and the Quest Journal have slightly different information, but the Datapad walked me right through my first docking procedure.

Ironically, I always go for the reactor. Except for one or two occassional bugged ships that must have a back-up reactor that can't be targetted, that shuts them down.

Although blowing the engines off most of the Rebel and Neutral fighters looks pretty sweet..
