They should of played freelancer. Or got the guy who wrote that to make the JTL space engine. While i LOVE the crafting side the flight system is a joke its imposaable to hit anything if you flying at any speed and if you stop you get blowen to bits

It so irritates me that people can even try to compare a MMO to singleplayer games, of course multiplayer wont have as much content. In single play the game is designed specificly for the one player, for them to make the desisions and progress through the game to the end and is really nothing but content. However in multiplayer, its not just you. The devs have to make it so the content is for everone and that evryone can do it and because its MMO it never ends. Their is no final climactic battle in which you finally beat the game, life (and the game) goes on.
I just dont get why so many people dont like social things in a RPG game.

Another thing. I've played X-Wing, TIE Fighter, XvT, Rogue Squadron, X-Wing Alliance, and a whole bunch of non-Star Wars pilot games, from "Elite" back on the Achorn Electron, to the latest version of Combat Flight Sim, anda whole host of things in between.I even that Star Trek one that came out on the Playstation. You know...ST: Invasion, with the Valkyries. I still have most of them. If I want to fly missions like that, solo, I'll just stick the disk in, and start playing.
I'm buying JTL for three reasons:
1. So that Ican fly into battlewith other players.
2. So that I can fly into battleagainst other players.
3. So that my characters can fly into battle.
Every Star Wars game to date (as far as I know), you've been playing a pre-set character, pretty much. In X-Wing Alliance, you're 'Ace' Azameen, or something. In Rogue Squadron (the first one), you're Luke Skywalker, or Wedge Antilles. In X-Wing, you're a Rebel Pilot. In TIE Fighter, you're an Imperial Pilot. Some characters are looser than others, but you're always locked into a storyline that someone else has decided for me already. There's no way of me "making my own destiny" as a pilot. As a pilot, I can tinker with my ship. I can name my ship. I can name my Astromech. I can fly where I want. If I want to run away, I can. If I want to stay and fight, I can. If I want to outfit my ship to become the fastest one possible in the game, I can. I can customise JTL so that its MY ship, not the one that LucasArts designed for me.
The fact that I can shape the game into my own gaming experience is one of the things that keeps me playing SWG. If I die, I suffer the consequences. There's no "restart mission" command anywhere. If I'm roleplaying, and I fail...thats just as important to the game as if I win. I, personally, find that kinda thing a whole lot of fun.
JTL isn't a flight sim...I don't think it was ever meant to be. JTL is Roleplaying in space, that just happens to take the form of a pilot game.If people don't already realise that...they're kinda dumb.

The devs have better things to do with their time than to clarify the blatantly obvious.
I just can't even think of something to say that isn't going to get me banned. It's mind numbing to think that you didn't know what to expect from an mmo expansion like this.
And read the dev tracker. They never said this wasa space sim. They didn't mislead you; you mislead yourself.

note of warning for everyone... your starter ship will be slow. your first tier ship will more than likely be slow unless you get lucky and hit a decent engine as loot... once you hit the 2nd tier and have access to the higher engines, then everything picks up... and fast... its something i wish the devs had tweaked a little more, but once you are high enough, it gets really hectic.

Awesome post! You highlight the main reasons why I enjoy playing Galaxies. To play a character that I created and basically create my own mini movie. It's pure fantasy and is leaps and bounds better than any single player game could ever be. Simply because you can meet so many cool people (i.e real living breathing humans) in game.
Dont get me wrong, KOTOR and other single player games have there place but galaxies is so much more. You can play it like a single player game if you like or you can play it as an RPG or you can even play it as a MMORPG. It's a very versatile game and JTL only adds to this.
JTL rocks! Tinkering with you ship, making your own ship, paiting and customizing it, naming it, than taking it to the stars is an unbelievable experience! I just wonder why people who call Galaxies a time sink still find the time to post anti-SWG posts. That seems like more of a time sink to me, wasting time on a forum thread on a game you dont even like. ROll out!

Me neither man. Me neither. RPG stand for Role-Playing Game. Pity people think it's otherwise.

man all i can say is JTLS will impress. Its very much a twitch style shooter but has way more aspects to it. Im totally blow away with it. I think it really levels out the game. SOE has way outdone themselves on it. I was expecting little but gotway more. "CLAP CLAP CLAP". Prepare to be addicted.
I say no more. BUY IT! I give it a 10.
What other aspects? Can you be more specific? You mean the new class and races? or the new emotes?

i would guess he's actually speaking of the twitch-style aspects... as in you create and design you own ship and augement it with different abilities that you control through your droid. I like it... but i wouldn't give it a 10. maybe a 7 or an 8.
