Thread: We should be paid to PvP

What i'm realy getting here is that the pve crowd gets upset in thinking that the pvp crowd wants to be "special" or recieve some kind recognition for being better than you.

That is not the case.

I admit that there are people out there that reinforce this misjudgement with thier elitist attitude. A few very blatant examples come to mind that I won't name just out of avoiding mudslinging. What is needed is for something to give more people a reason to try this. That is not a bad thing. I'm fine with some kind of reward system to make space pvp more apealing and heres the simple reason why. It's fun, its not like ground pvp. In the times i was able to participate in it before kessel got the axe i didn't get one hate tell and i had about 400% more fun than any ground pvp experience. I HATE ground pvp it is the absolute most boring formulatic hate filled crap fest i have ever subjected myself to. Space pvp is different, something that gets more people seing that is ok with me.

Hmm, perhaps I didn't make my idea very clear, a lot of you seem to have misinterpreted what I'm saying. I am not a 1337 PvP dewd3 looking to be made more special, in fact I have never been overt in space. I know PvP is fun becauseI used to enjoy multiplayer matches in X vs. TIE. In that game I loved how when you died you just got respawned and start fighting again. But in JtL if I want to PvP I'll also have to spend large amounts of time grinding to pay for it. I've done the grinding thing before, and to be honest I'm tired of it. This is a game. It shouldn't be thatwe have to work to be able to have fun, we should be paid for having fun.

I'll considerreposting this topic with some more information in the first post.

We all do, even if you NEVER PvP, and now the grind is that much longer with the payout changes. SOE loves to see us mindlessly grind.

when i pvp i get that funny feeling in my stomach, sometimes i like it, sometimes i dont. I'm not saying i like it when i win and dont when i lose, but sometimes after pvp, even if i win im like ....that wasnt worth it.but sometimes it's like "WHOA, that rocked" i rarely feel like it rocks on the ground anymore, sometimes in space it blows sometimes its cool, it would be nice if they could find a great balance that makes it rock hard all the time, even when you lose. Right now it's not large-scale enough to rock hard, there needs to be i bigger pull to do it, maybe higher ranks than ace, through pvp abilities, there are some nice ideas on that.

Do you not think more people would PvP if they had a reason to?

I agree with no chassis decay, or at least a reduced chassis decay. I could easily be on my second X-Wing and at 500k each it's not much of an incentive to PvP every night.

Well the line I was feed is PvP is the majority and that PvP is the ONLY way to play, yet few do it. Why do you need an incentive to do something you want to do? Example if you WANT to watch TV, do you need a special show on to do that? No you turn it on and flip channels, the original goal was just to watch TV, now if nothing is on you may turn it off but the point is if you REALLY want and like something you do it, you dont NEED incentive above and beyond the basic act.

Ok, I put that last statement badly. I didn't really mean there should be an incentive to PvP, I meant there should notbe an incentive NOT to PvP (in that you have to go a grind money).

And your TV example doesn't really make sense. If I want to watch TV I don't have to go out and earn money just to watch it (I am a student, my parents pay). If I had to do a tedious job for say 5 hours to be able to watch TV for 1 hour, I would not do it, as I don't like TV enough.

Taking decay out of PvP is something that they should NEVER have had and I support removing decay from PvP.

The TV example did make sense but that's ok we both see the point so no need to debate examples.

Removing decay will piss off the shipwrights. I was looking for a solution which doesn't piss anyone off. I don't see why players who just PvE wouldn't like PvPers getting paid, as long as the PvPers weren't making more money than the PvEers.

Just for PvP it would? But a payout system is nice yes I agree, the trouble is how to do the payout so it cant be abused anymore or less then the NPC payouts and is comparable to NPC payouts it can be a bit higher or lower I'm not gonna nitpick it to death +/- 25%is well within tolerances.

I'd have to agree. Removing decay from PvP only would barely impact the overall player-base decay. In fact, I'd go far enough to say that shipwrights would probably not even notice the difference.

Put it this way: Does the lack of decay on armor in ground PvP impact armorsmiths? Not at all.
