I heard somewhere that they may add co-pilot to the YT-1300 that would add bonuses to the ship

That would bring the total of people who can interact with the ship to 4 if they add it

Interact with the ship, yes - pilot, co-pilot & 2 turrets.

However, people are supposed to be able to walk around on the YT while it's in flight, furnish it like a house etc. That is capped at 8-10 passengers including the 4 'crew members' mentioned

The whole faction thing is a little fuzzy, but here is how I think it may work based on things I have read:

1. It is going to require a large number of faction points to become a novice faction pilot. Thus, neutral players can't get Alliance Pilot or Imperial Pilot.

2. Nothing will prevent faction players from getting novice basic pilot.

3. We don't know how they are doing piloting skill points at all yet. We have heard they will not be part of the basic skill points. I also keep seeing and hearing about "prestige points". We don't know if it will be possible to master both Basic Pilot, and a faction pilot.

4. I have read that people in faction fighters will have a permanent TEF in space while in faction fighters. I don't know if it is possible to declare overt in a neurtal fighter and be able to do PVP. However, in the videos we did see the YT-1300 engaging in combat with Imperial Ships. If you are overt on the ground, will you be overt in space, regardless of ship type?

The whole faction thing is the least clear to me. In the Shipwright skill tree it shows ability to craft faction ships, but lots of people think some or most faction ships will be obtained through faction points.

faction ships will probably be aquired by purchasing a one time use schematic with faction points from a recruiter, who can then give the schematic to a shipwright.

Thanks for the response Mkappus!

That's pretty much where my understanding has been heading too. At first it sounded like the faction trees would be exclusive but the more i've read the more i'm thinking along the lines that you are & i think it sounds great!

What we know

Sure, there is too much info running around, so, I decided to take those pieces togheter and build a basic faq to help and keep us busy here...

1 - Ships

Ok, we all know there will be 15 playable ships and alot of NPC ones. Three faction Pilot professions wich means 5 ships for each one (just a guess). These factions and ships are:

*Neutral
- YT-1300
- New hutt fighter
- ???
- ???
- ???

*Rebel
- X-Wing
- Y-Wing
- A-Wing (??)
- B-Wing (??)
- Z-95 Head Hunter (??)

*Imperial
- Tie Fighter
- Tie Interceptor
- Tie Bomber
- Tie Advanced (??)
- Assault Gunboat (???)

As stated by my PA mates, the Headhunter is considered a basic rebel ship and also a mercenary one. I bet it will go rebel, but I will hold my breath on that until an official word. The Neutral ships are dificult to guess, since they already stated taht will be new designs done for the game, so again, do not hold your breathe.

2 - The flight

In JTL there is no atmospheric flight. The devs have already stated the dificult to input the atm flight on the game due the actual game mechanics. There is also a big bad problem regarding the LAG. Just imagine Lagnet (Coronet) or any other major city with a real ships around, and I mean a good number of them.

There is another matter indentified as "griefing" that don't bother many of us in any way: the ability to attack ground units with ships. Well, it is a war, for those who are crying for it are just wasting tears. Once in space, you will have 360º of free movement. Looping and rooling should not be a problem here then. My only concern is about the speed, I saw all videos and everything seens to be so motion less (not mentioning the video where the falcon is stoped ), but, as I said, we will have to see it working in live.

3 - The Space

Space, the last frontier... Erm... *spits*

Sorry! Well they said something about 10 areas, those include the planets and plus 2 new "wild" chunks of empty space. The travel between them will be done by a hyperjump that, in fact, is a loading screen. Some here already said that it would be cool to have the loading screen as the molted sky like in the films and nothing like a bar showing progress or something like. I was expecting more, but, lets see what we will get first.

Seens like they put too much effort on enviroment. There will be nebula effects that will interfeer directly with your ship, so, you could end being hit by something nasty that will lower your shieds or even power, so watch out. There will be asteroids too, and some say that they will not be invunerable, or in other words, you will be able to shot and destroy them, though, they will not left any trace of their previous existance, they will simply explode and vanish (guesses on respaw time? )

4 - Encounters

It is also stated that the space will be more dangerous than the ground. There will be several faction and thug NPCs spread around the galaxy. Each one will have a AI setting going from "n00b" to top ace pilot. There will be also several capital ships around, some escorted, some not.

You wont be allowed to dock while in space. Maybe in later publishes but not now.

5 - Death

When you die, your clone will reapear on the closest clone center on the nearest planet with all normal wounds. Your ship will not be destroyed, though I belive there will be some kind of penalty here. After all, the inability to loose something ends kicking the chalenge aspect from the game.

6 - Chat and HUD

We heard and read about chat bubbles on space. Well, this should look weird IMO. In some screenshots, we saw the HUD on with the normal chat window alive and kicking. We still not know if it works on the same way (combat, chat, group...), bets that it will be the same, so I hope.

The radar looks kinda weird, some here are huge fans of the old XW vs Tie series, where you have two displays, one showing the front and other the rear. I dunno how this new one will handle the Z axis.

7 - Ship building

Oh, there is a mistery! Nothing yet about it. Some say that the factional ships will be only crafted by factional shipbuilders. Well, IMO it is a waste of profession and I doubt it will happen. But again, who knows? (Well, the devs, but we don't)

The profession that allows you to build ships is called Shipwright. There, you will be able craft ships and parts to customize the ship. As we saw it can heavly modify the normal ships (like the pic of the X-Wing with huge engines and strange weapons. Plus we will get to experiment to enhance the stuff.

8 - Professions

"First, shalt thou buy the Jump to Light Speed.
Then shalt thou choose from the four professions.
No more, no less.
*Four* shall be the number of professions, and the number
of professions shall be four.
*Five* shalt thou not count, and neither count thou two,
excepting that thou then goest on to four.
Five is RIGHT OUT..."

Erm... better stop with this...

Something that is bothering alot of people is the fact that 3 of the new professions are related to piloting, wich seens to be a marketing strategy more than a feature. Well, but fact is that we will have one for each present faction in the game: rebel, imperial and neutral(if you can call this a faction). To fly ships from a specific faction, you will have climb the specific tree. Seens like everyone will be able to get at least 2 of them (neut and one faction).

The Shipwright profession is the building one.

9 - Skills

Seens like our experience with skill points will change a bit. The pilot professions will not get our base skill points, it will be a new system for the expansion. But, it does not apply to the Shipwright profession, since it will be a ground base only.

******

Well, this is it. For sure I'm missing something, so please, correct me if I am wrong.

That is an excellent question about logging out in space, I have not heard 1 thing about that, and I have no idea.

On hyperspace, all I have heard about is going into hyperspace from 1 sector to another. In the movies that is all it was used for, long distance travel, not an evasive maneuver in combat. I would imagine it will be simliar in this game.

From what I have heard, at starports there will be no animations, just a loading screen. So you will load to and from space, but there won't be animations of your ship coming or going. I would think you can chose any starport to land at, but I have not heard anything specifically on that.

Certifications for the A-Wing and B-Wing were shown in the screenshots so it is safe to assume that they are flyable at this time. That means:

confirmed pilotableships:

A-Wing

B-Wing

X-Wing

TIE fighter

YT-1300

Any more? This leaves 10 unaccounted for. Are theships listedtwo posts above confirmed?

Thanks Mkappus, I was curious about the whole joystick thing Glad to know the devs did the right thing on that. Actually, that was the only thing about the SE that worried me.
