Thread: whats the FREAKING problem?

My problem are that neutral players will be allowed to fly faction space ships, meaning that it will be ok to be neutral and fly around in a TIE-fighter or X-wing. Thisdont make any sense at all.
The devs have said that they want to increase the Star Wars feeling in the game, this is a step in the opposite direction!!!!
The star wars feeling will only get worse if I see a group of neutrals piloting TIE-fighters and X-wings!
Other way around is fine with me since it is possible to have a modified "civilian" ship and still work for a faction.
I dont care about the PvP aspect, sure its fun but not the most important aspect of the game
What I do care about is to get the genuine feeling when I am flying around. Seeing neutral faction space ships will not achieve this....
I see what you mean by that. Players should have the direct choice in ANY of the 3 professions to 'turn on' PvP or not however i think you should only be able to fly the ships for the faction/pilot treeyou choose. For example if you want to fly rebel ships (be it PvP or PvE) you should have to be a rebel pilot. If you want to fly imperial craft (again PvP or PvE) you should only be able to do so if you have the imperial pilot tree.
A question though: Can you dabble in each pilot tree? like i can be Neutral but also 'dabble' in some imp skills to get a certain ship cert? I certainly hope not but i cannot be certain.

you want to know why?
because that made the pvp players happy, and the pve players were the ones forced into going neutral even if they wanted the faction ships... but they didnt complain because they arent immature a**holes. they accepted it, i know that i did anyway... i accepted it and said so be it.
but now that they changed it, the pve players are happy with it. but they upset the pvper's dreams and since they like to complain... well... they are complaining now arent they? its about time the DEV's did something for the PvE players in this game. =)
I dont care about PvP or PvE in this matter. As I said, I care about the Star Wars feeling.
Why should civilians be allowed to fly military weapons of war?
Just as I would hate seeing neutral players in stormtrooper armor, this is exactly the same thing.
So why should the players who enjoy RP and getting into the star wars storyhave to suffer because PVE ppl think they have the right to pilot all the ships?

It seems pretty well represented, you're all here now, where were you before?
I was here a couple of months back discussing and was for about 2 weeks, until it came to voicing my opinion of PvP or PvE and the moaning of why we should all be overt.
I expressed my opinions that GCW should cater to both PvP and PvE and that no-one should be forced into pvp but got so much abuse and blatent flaming for my 'opinion' from people who simply didnt agree with me, i decided to just leave. It wasnt worth wasting my breath expressing my opinionand receiving constant abuse for it.
Ive been dropping by now and then but yes that bad experienced discouraged me from posting here recently.

Yes, PvE and PvP should be separate, but you cannot deny PvP all of the content. If you want to participate in the GCW, you should have to acknowlege risk to PvP. Its really that simple. There are two sides to a war.

*Xwing flies by and stirs up a flight of Tie Fighters* "Bout time an enemy shows up, I gotta help out my comrades" *Fires at the Xwing hitting it all along the fuselage* "Huh? Damned covert Xwing, what a galactic civil war this is."

you people dont seem to get it... players can only have one pilot proffesion at a time. thus only the ships for that proffesion,
how many PVE rebs do you think will fly around in ties? none i should think. and vice versa.
if you choose reb pilot you CANT fly a Tie whether you are overt or not. so that doesnt come into it.
and as far as going nuetral if you dont want to PVP is bull, pve players should also get to participate in the GCW as they see fit. so all i can say is live with it.
ill say it again.. if SOE doesnt make ALL its players happy, they will lose money.. PVP players have to get used to the fact that they are a minority and will have to deal with that fact. SOE must make its PVE playershappy or they will lose players and money. and tats the truth.

I agree with.. er.. booger on this.
Something people have to realize is there are many different playstyles.
Non-pvpers whine when they are forced to pvp.
PvPers whine when they can't pvp at all.
This system is a compromise, especially since you guys are forgetting that they mentioned there will be 1 or more sectors with open pvp (hence the *mumble* - I guess they don't want to say too much about it), which the non-pvpers are whining about.
Why doesn't everyone just stop complaining and realize that we live in a diverse world, with many different playstyles. I, for one, welcome our non-pvp and 24/7-pvp buddies alike. They're all an important part of the game. I think the Devs recognize that and have tried to accomodate us all.
Let's wait for a little more information on those open pvp sectors before we go overboard.

I don't see what was wrong with what the previous system, where iconic ships were overt and each side had "neutral" non-iconic ships, like being covert. Similar to factional equipment (armor/soldiers). Can you link to your threads on this?

so if you are PVP play against other PVPer's why is that so hard? you will also have all PVP zones as well. so relax
