The A-wing with the pre-nerf engine is very nice and you can fight many enemys at once, but with the new engines its crap, it ends up to slow and cant holda bigger engine to make up for it like the X-wing can, it cant hold much armor or a big shield. Really they need to give it more of a max speed advantage now.

I slapped an experimental blaster with .26 refire in my awing and a 9.5k mass, 90.1 speed, 70 y/p/r engine in it.

The gun fires so fast and hits pretty hard to that it ends up doing about the same damage as an xwing using 3 advanced weapons.

The real fun is I only put in mark 2 armor and a mark 3 shield generator . The droid takes care of most of the shield charge for me assuming something does manage to land a hit.

I have only seen1 imperial ace (tie oppressor)in deep space to date and i wasted him while fighting directly over the star destroyer in less than 5 seconds.

Its a handy little ship. I'm just waiting to try a MP ship out with it sinceI can keep them in my crosshairs 70% of the time while turning tigh ovals around them.

with an re'd post-nerf engine and engine overload 4 (make sure you re your engine with one that has ~1300 drain) you can still hit 1150 cruise speed. plus with a slower engine you will turn inside of players using a faster engine, since the awing/interceptor/advanced cant turn at low speed. there was the one guy who kept killing me in his advanced because i was just so much faster than he was i was flying a big circle around him. so i stuffed in a engine with around 65speed and i was able to turn inside of him and light him up.

for protection the most common awing loadout will have mkII crafted armor at around 600 hitpoints a slab and a mkIV crafted shield with about 1900 f/b hitpoints. if you really wanted to you could stuff in a re'd lvl8 reward at 25k mass but you will have to sacrifice on other things, and its not worth another 600 shield hitpoints if you ask me.

and if you can i highly recomend using engine overload 4 instead of 3. you will need an engine with 1400 reactor drain at most and 13k+ reactor output, but it is possible. just make sure you get all your repairs from deep space or you will wear out your engine/reactor in no time.

my advanced has right at 1300 drain on the engine and a mkI crafted reactor with 11.8k output, and i somehow manage to run eo4, so you dont need a massive reactor if you put all your parts on a reactor drain diet.
