sorry but your wrong it was something that anakin did. he designed and re-built his own jedi starfighter(as seen in ep2) and as the design was so succesful it was then adopted by the rest of the order.
(I read this somewhere on the starwars site but i now cant find any infor relating to the ship)

Edit: Sorry...I broke the links. Lol. Fixed them.
The ship that Anakin designed was seen in Clone Wars. It didn't look like the Jedifighter. For starters, Anakin's was blue and white, like his podracer, and it didn't feature the split "prongs" at the front, so far as I know.
This is the Jedi Starfighter Anakin customised.
The Jedifighter in question is seen in the teaser trailer...but I don't know if its being flown by Anakin, Obi Wan, or some other Jedi. I'm guessing that, at some point, its Anakin, but I don't know. I also heard that Obi Wan would by flying as "Red Leader" at some point...but I think I spotted standard JSF's in the Trailer, so I'm guessing Obi flew one of those.

The ARC Fighter looks Rebel, because its an expansion on the design of the Republic Gunship. Its the evolutionary step between the Gunship from Ep 2, and the X-Wing style fighters. Someone posted up a link to a toy site yesterday, which had info on the toys coming out for Ep 3. the ARC-170 has S-Foils that open up above and below the wings...if you've seen the Ep 3 trailers on StarWars.com, you might have spotted the wonky form of X-Wing. Thats the ARC-170. If you look at the side profile, its very similar to the Republic Gunship.

Both the Jedifighter and the ARC-170 are in use by the Republic, and Grevious' ship is a Confederacy vessel. I would be very surprised if these didn't end up "availiable to all"...but who knows?

Yeah id say Ep 3 ships = available to all.
New custom (i.e. add fins and wow new ship) versions of xwing tie etc will be faction specific.

that first screen cap is of obi-wan arriving on utapau. the jedi starfighter being added in ep3 is the next version of anakins "upgrade" 90% of all jedi fly that ship.
if you have access to hyperspace on starwars.com check through screen caps of ep3 and you'll see a shot of obi-wan in the cockpit of one of the jedi starfighters thats being added with ROTW

If rebel pilotscan use it, I might actually replace my nova with it. Novas are a nightmare for crewing. I don't like the opps being removed from the pilot. The arc is my dream come true. Two gunners + a pilot controlled gun. Faster than POB, more agile.... I can't wait! Finally I won't just be flying my A-wing all the time. I can now help 2 noobs grinding XP by taking them to Kessel without worrying about dying. YAY!!!!!!!! I must own one too.

I can picture myself wearing full Stormie and flying one of these babies =) If the ship goes to rebels. I would have to cry for shooting down a beautiful relic of the clone wars.

i could see the arc going to both sides, especially since when the arc was designed and used during the clone wars, it would have been in use when palpatine began his 'new order' since it might have been around during the creation of the imperial navy it stands to reason that it could be used by both rebs and imps.i'd like to play it but i'd still much rather get my yt-1300 or they introduce a ship like the ebon hawk in kotor

I think that if the imps ever get their lambda that the rebs could get a Republic Gunship, 2 ordanince slots, 4 projectile slots (2 are wing turrets, no side turrets on the space version of the gunship in the clone wars miniseries AFAIK)
