No Reason for Joystick. I imagine it would be alot harder since you can't type... the W,S,A,D,Q,E keys are all convinient.

I just map a macro to one of my joystick keys:
'/reply In space can't chat, e-mail me, sorry.' or somesuch.
Works like a charm.

Same here. I switched to this when my Sidewinder finally died. Great stick with plenty of buttons and good mechanics.

I use the Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS which is similar in design but made of all steel.

How have you modded your Cougar? I've got the Evenstrain Mod and the Halls Effect sensors for the Throttle in mine.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the excellent sticks from CH Products.
Seriously, those saitek sticks are garbage made for the isles of toys r' us. Not built to last at all.

I used the mouse and keyboard for about 15 min when I first got JTL because I didn't have my joystick plugged in. Drove me crazy... after plugging in the joystick, I can fly now!
Oh, and I'm using a Microsoft Sidewinder Force feedback Pro....

Same here, it's a great stick and handy. but if I use the wingman software, my ships all go out of control.

Whacked, Pixell. I don't have that problem. Might it be the button bindings in the Wingman Profiler conflicting with key bindings in the game?

I use the same thing. Reasonable price if you're just gonna be using it for JTL and it's got enough buttons that you can keep your hands clear of the keyboard.
I would love to get an X52, though. Those things are sweet.

I use the Saitek Evo Cyborg. It almost feels like the game was made for it. An excellent stick and for not much money.

I presonally love the Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick.... its really cool not to have more cables, especially since need to move some stuff around to position my joystick and all so it saves a lot of time
I used to have a Logitech Wingman Strike Force 3D before that one but it broke kinda while my old Saitek Cyborg 3D (the ancestor of the Evo methinks) seemed extremely stable and accurate, but since Saitek makes joysticks for left and right hands some buttons are hard to reach.
So ultimately its a matter of taste... in accuracy both firms are identical so either go for convenient button placement and ergonomics or for durable, universal usable sticks.
